Mezzo is a casual Italian restaurant and bar. Sure, “casual Italian restaurant and bar” is a phrase bandied around constantly, and that particular category of dining spot must be a dime a dozen in this town. Mezzo though, do it really, really well. There’s a definite Sicilian bent to the goings-on within Mezzo menu, with some traditional sharing menus, alongside individual mains. Think modern dishes with hearty, traditional flavours. The spacious dining room is sophisticated and stylish, befitting the restaurant’s address on the top end of Little Bourke Street. A gorgeous, hulking marble bar divides the space, with images of Sicily along the walls. Splashes of red come via the lampshades hanging from the high ceilings above pre-theatre, and date night diners.Mezzo is well suited to group dinners, larger celebrations, and business luncheons. As a function venue used in its entirety, Mezzo is also a great setting for cocktail parties.Mezzo is found on the very top end of Little Bourke Street, in one of the top end’s many pockets of superb dining. On the edge of Spring Street, Mezzo is then also near Parliament train station, the city’s theatre precinct, as well as ‘Paris End’ shopping.
