•Stovetop Carlton. Is it Carlton’s Cheers? Maybe? Without implying Ted Danson and Shelley Long hang out here, Stovetop definitely is the kind of neighbourhood spot where “everyone knows your name”. And if not name, then definitely your coffee order. Stovetop is cosy, warm, inviting, and boasts a menu ridiculously stocked with delicious goings-on. Inside, Stovetop is as easy-on-the-eye and cosy as one would expect an immediately-well-loved new Carlton cafe to be. Slightly rustic, slightly filled with a well-designed modern interior, and definitely smells delicious. You know the drill, coffee machine pumping, new cakes and slices made daily, crazy busy during lunch time, a loyal following. Combine that with the fact that the space is a delightful spot for a function, and you’ve got yourself a winner. Stovetop is found on Leicester Street, Carlton. Near Melbourne University, that’s between Queensberry and Pelham Streets. The 19 and 59 trams will get you nearby, as well as all the trams that roll up and down Swanston Street.

I ordered an almond croissant and asked for it to be warmed up. There was no queue, yet it took an unusually long time to serve me. It seemed like the waitress forgot about the croissant in the oven because, after 15 minutes, she finally brought it to me, but it was completely burnt, inside and out. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice until I had already started eating. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience.
The coffee was rich and perfectly brewed, complementing the buttery, flaky Nutella croissant beautifully. The croissant was golden on the outside with a warm, gooey Nutella filling that was just the right amount of sweet. Together, they made for an indulgent treat that I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a delightful coffee break. Will definitely be back!
@stovetopcafe is a cafe towards University Square/ Melb Uni📍 I love the natural light in this cafe 😍 we enjoyed the nasi Goreng and the baked eggs. Both dishes were so good! All dishes including the cauliflower salad were so generous! We went on a day where they were understaffed and they were so busy with takeaway orders 🥲 the barista and floor staff were out due to covid. We still really enjoyed our meal and coffees- mum really enjoyed the NasiGoreng 😄. Super wholesome. ♥️☀️ 🍳☕️

One of the best cafe we have visited in Melbourne. Fantastic food, friendly staff and beautiful environment. This is a great place to visit on a weekend morning for brunch and just relax. This cafe is located on CBD fringe with a good distance to stroll and enjoy the culture of Melbourne.
