•Oh, Carlton Club. Don’t ever change. Don’t ever leave. You are a staple of Melbourne’s nightlife. The Carlton’s one of those places everyone takes friends visiting from out of town, a great place for your next gathering. It never gets old, the gasps and cries of “Holy crap, a giraffe!” or “Elephant!” or “the walls are fuzzy!”. All of these are accurate exclamations, let's be honest. There is a giraffe over by the balcony, there’s a giant elephant head upstairs, and yes, there’s a lot of rich, dark red velvet. Opulent and OTT. Aside from a menagerie of taxidermy animals and plush booths, the Carlton boasts a somewhat (very) tropical theme outside on the balcony and upstairs on the roof - Palmz - and just below the roof - Hasti Bala Bar. Essentially there are three different venues within the old Carlton Hotel; the opulent Carlton Club with its leafy balcony, a feast for the senses starring that giant Elephant Head upstairs at Hasti Bala, and tropical vibes and open-air on the rooftop Palmz bar. The Carlton takes all manner of functions under its taxidermied wings, whether for small groups of friends, large posses of friends, or large product launches and exclusive parties that span entire floors. The Carlton is found along Bourke Street, between Russell and Swanston Streets. Flinders Street and Melbourne Central are your closest train stations.
Plush surroundings and your very own table - what more could you want for a night out with the crew. Sink into the velvety booths and enjoy the tropical-meets-taxidermy vibe!
Hasti Bala on the third floor certainly makes a statement. Providing a wild jungle labyrinth of velvet booths, verdant tropical vines and a DJ booth framed by an elephant head – you won’t be short of conversations starters! There’s somethin...
No, you're not hallucinating. That is a giant elephant head. Which, just for the record, is flippin' sweet. It's a huge elephant head, surrounded by plants, as the centrepiece of a colourful and exciting bar. All those flights of stair...
This Private Tropical Deck includes a bar and some kick-ass food. Open-air? Yes! Shelter from schizophrenic weather patterns? Also yes! It's an all-weather deck ready for your next event!
Prepare to have your socks well and truly exploded off your feet. Found at the very top of the building there are palms. It's a very tropical vibe, to be honest. BYO Hawaiian shirt. There's a bar, the stars, and space for 200. Amazing.
The dining room is found just to the right of the main bar area. As one would probably expect from a dining room, it's slightly less rowdy and slightly less abundant in taxidermy as its sibling next door. What the dining room does have in a...
Leafy, tropical balcony anyone? Pfft, what a question. Of course, you want a leafy, tropical balcony. Especially when it perches above Bourke Street, adjacent to the main bar. The balcony is a wooden deck, leafy surrounds, young and attract...
This is the main bar. It's the one that everyone brings their out-of-town friends to, to hear the gasps of appreciation when their eyes adjust to the light. Yeah! Gaudy red wallpaper! Red velvet! Sumptuous booths! TAXIDERMY ANIMALS. You'll ...
Good vibe and atmosphere 😊😊😊 DJ was the best. They were full of energy and did their best, a combination of old and new music. Also, you can go upstairs, with different spaces. The security guys were aware of their surroundings. I love the terrace and the giraffe on the back of the terrace's wall. I reckon, it is the best free entrance bar. I haven't tried the food here, so I have no ideas about it. But, I have been there several times and enjoyed it a lot. Highly recommended. Definitely, go there with your mates and loved ones and have fun 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Cool atmosphere and amazing food! I went to The Carlton Club yesterday and had a great experience. The lamb with eggplant lasagna was excellent and the cocktails jug is a great option
The atmosphere and the outdoor court yard is perfect for rewinding alone or catching up with friends. There is no other bar or clubs I would be at. The staff from the servers to security are all awesome people and super friendly too. 10/10.
This place is a multi tier bar/club with 2 dance floors. We came looking for drinks and to dance and have fun. The place waxxed and waned in crowd size ranging from packed to confusingly thin between 12AM and 3AM. The bar tenders are friendly and gave quick all be it very inconsistent service and drinks. The outside specialty drinks were good and the mixologist was nice but bring a book for the 35 mins each drink takes to make. Both DJs were playing great fun danceable music but the dance floors are tiny the lower level is maybe 2 Meters by 3 meters the 2nd floor is maybe 3 meters by 3 meters. There was plenty of seating and we found spots to rest drink our drinks or even just dance in the areas lest crowded like at the tables. The outside bar had heaters but the seats were all taken and it was too cold not to be under a heater. the roof was closed probably because it was so cold. Coat check is $5 Simply put this place is nothing wildly special but the bathrooms were clean, the drinks flowed and the beats were solid. Very causal good time. The vibe was generally positive and overall felt like a safe environment. We had fun.
came here on a Wednesday for steak night, delicious steaks, very moody lighting, I didn't know it was a restaurant at first, I thought it was just a nightclub, the experience was great. beers and alcohol are at a good price, and the staff are nice. lots of seating inside, and the seating is fancy. some of their cocktails include espresso martini, gin cleanse, berrylicious, margarita, nutty angel, pretty on pink, burning passion, pimms, mojito, and sangria.
