•We recently stayed in the Penthouse at The Olsen in South Yarra and absolutely loved every minute of it. The apartment is gorgeous, with stunning surrounds and breathtaking views across Melbourne from almost every angle. Day or night, the outlook is incredible and really makes the stay feel special. The pool and spa area are beautiful and perfect for relaxing while taking in the city views. One of the things we loved most was the artwork throughout the property, which gives the hotel a unique character and creates a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional throughout our stay, always happy to help and making us feel genuinely welcome. From the beautiful design and artwork to the amazing facilities and spectacular views, the Penthouse at The Olsen delivered a luxury experience that exceeded expectations. We would happily stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for something special in South Yarra.
Stayed here for work for 1 night. The staff were friendly and efficient at check in. Room was clean and well presented, and quite spacious. The room had a little kitchenette, which would probably make a longer stay quite comfortable. The room was showing its age a little. The bathroom was an accessible bathroom, which only had a small curtain so during a shower the water went everywhere in the bathroom which was I suppose the only frustration - but appreciate its set up for accessibility. Good location - close to restaurants, supermarkets and shopping on Chapel.
If you're in Melbourne for work or pleasure, The Olsen just makes life easy. You're greeted warmly every time you walk through the door, the rooms are clean and practical — everything you need, nothing you don't — and getting to the city is a breeze thanks to the great transport access nearby. The team is super responsive, which matters when you're busy. Need something fixed, have a question, or just run out of coffee pods? Done, no hassle. That kind of efficiency is exactly what you want after a long day of meetings or stuck in the office. Breakfast is also worth sticking around for — the restaurant crew brings the same friendly energy and the food is genuinely good quality. A solid way to fuel up before heading out. What really sets The Olsen apart is that the whole team — front desk, housekeeping, F&B, maintenance — clearly enjoys working there. It comes through in every interaction and makes the experience feel effortless rather than transactional. For business travel, that's a big deal.
Superb room & amenities. Room was spacious & had a great view. Comfortable chair & table, small desk with chair & a large TV on the wall. Bathroom was more than adequate with a good shower head & body soap, shampoo & conditioner pump packs on the wall. Small kitchenette with coffee machine and a kettle. Enough cutlery and crockery for two people. Room also included a bar fridge. Reception staff were lovely & friendly. Only attended breakfast once for a small bowl of fruit and yogurt with a blended juice. All five stars. Parking available at $40 a night or street parking if you’re lucky. There’s 1/2P at front door & 2P around the corner but be careful of the tow away zones.
We stayed 1 night because it was close to where we were going out. It was clean. Everyone we spoke to was lovely and helpful. We even got a bottle of Prosecco because we were celebrating my partners birthday. Thank you so much It’s a small room. It had everything we needed. Suitable for 1 person for long stays. Maybe 3 nights max if you’re sharing. Our bed was a zip bed. Two singles zipped together. You can feel it. It sinks in the middle making it not the most comfortable night’s sleep. Expect a bit of normal wear and tear for a hotel that’s been popular since opening. For its age it has been well kept. And as mentioned it’s clean.
