One of Melbourne’s most iconic buildings, which famously housed David Bromley’s studio and home for 13 years, has been transformed into a unique, new events space.

Located within the iconic Prahran Arcade, the heritage building has seen many incarnations over the decades, and today this historic Chapel St icon has been lovingly restored to its former glory to become “Sophia”, a multi-faceted events space that can host every style of occasion.

Inside resides two spaces that may be used independently or together – a grand ballroom and a gorgeous space reminiscent of an art gallery. ‘The Ballroom’ (seats 100 or 150 cocktail), an elegant room with ornate chandeliers and a breathtaking balcony overlooking Chapel Street. ‘The Gallery’ (seats 200 or 350 cocktail), a remarkable 60 metre space punctuated by 26 arched windows which reveal the elaborate architectural works suspended high above the arcade.

Sophia epitomises the excesses of the late 19th century architecture in Victoria. To put it simply… she is a showstopper!

We were so fortunate to have our wedding reception at Sophia at The Prahran Arcade. It is a stunning venue and the whole Atlantic Group team were wonderful to deal with. A special shout out to Cigdem, Emma and Kelsie who handled all our questions and stepped us through the details throughout the process! The food and drinks were amazing and capped off the best night of our lives!

I cannot praise and recommend Sophia at The Prahran Arcade and Atlantic Group staff highly enough. We recently had our wedding reception at Sophia and it was undoubtedly the best night of our lives. The food was absolutely impeccable (so often wedding food is so basic, this was anything BUT basic...still dreaming about the yellow fin tuna entree), and the service was brilliant. No one ever had an empty glass, the gimlets were flowing, and everyone was so kind, helpful, warm and welcoming. I specifically want to leave praise for our Events Manager Emma Jolly who made it impossible for me to feel stressed. She put me at complete ease responding to my 1 million emails, was so attentive and organised, and made our day so much more incredibly special. She even left a beautiful bottle of champagne for us to take at the end of the night. I could not recommend her more, she was a dream. I wish we could do it all over again :(

Last week, we hosted a corporate event at The Atlantic and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The team, especially Jesse, Melanie, Jay and Kyle were exceptional from the initial planning through to execution. Nothing was too much trouble, the service was seamless, and the space is beautiful. Our guests had a fantastic time, and the feedback has been glowing. Thank you for making it such a memorable night!

Superb venue and wonderful staff ❤️ We had our wedding ceremony and reception here a few months ago and it was a wonderful experience. The venue is stunning (obviously) but the staff were so helpful, understanding and responsive to our requests (thanks again Emma ❤️). On the day we didn’t have to worry about anything as the staff took complete control. We loved this place and highly recommend 🌟

The team at Sophia have been an absolute dream to work with! We looked at a number of places inner city for our wedding and honestly ended up with Sophia because of the great vibes from Jesse and the team (and of course how beautiful the venue is!). He has made the entire process so easy and we cannot wait for our wedding in October. Couldn't recommend them more!
