•There's the usual office presentation room, the usual end client event, the usual array of Christmas party options. Then there's the option of hosting any of those functions in a slightly more memorable and unique venue – a cinema. Village Cinemas have locations all over Victoria and Tasmania, each able to host a huge range of social and corporate events. One of the most popular, and certainly one of the most well-loved locations is Chapel Street's Village Cinemas Jam Factory. Whether you're hosting an end of year celebration for the office, a client presentation or a you merely need a huge screen with state of the art sound capabilities for a product launch, Village Cinemas Jam Factory is able to accommodate large and small functions within its cinemas and function spaces. The sprawling array of cinemas at Village Cinemas Jam Factory comfortably hosts dinner and cocktail-style events with packages to match – along with specifically tailored packages for product launches and presentations.

Jam Factory Village Cinemas is a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to catching a movie in the area. I’ve been a few times now, and every visit has been a positive experience. The cinema is located on the top level of the Jam Factory complex in South Yarra, which is a shopping strip that seems to have seen busier days, especially since I’ve mostly gone to evening sessions when many of the shops are already closed. You can purchase tickets from the kiosks on the ground floor or head straight upstairs, where you’ll also find snack bars and the main cinema entrances. The venue is split across two wings, with cinemas located on either side. Both sections have their own snack and ticket counters, though one side usually closes later in the evening when foot traffic slows down. There are escalators, lifts, and stairs available, making the cinema easy to access from all directions. While you can grab tickets on the spot with very minimal wait times, I’d still recommend booking online if you’d prefer to skip the counters altogether. It’s quick and convenient, especially since the cinema isn’t typically too busy. Our most recent visit was in December 2024 to see Wicked with some friends, and it was a lot of fun. The cinema had gone all out with themed decorations, including a cute display outside (which I may or may not have accidentally knocked over and then reassembled). They also had special popcorn boxes and drinks themed to the movie, which added to the experience. Inside, the cinemas are super comfy, with spacious recliner chairs that make it easy to settle in and enjoy the film. The screens are large and the sound is great. I’ve always found the staff to be friendly and attentive, keeping the theatres clean and tidy between sessions. Even though I’ve rarely seen big crowds here, I’d honestly say it’s one of the best cinema options in the area. With convenient parking available behind the Jam Factory, well maintained facilities, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, it’s a great spot for a chill movie night. If you’re after comfort, good service, and a quieter cinema experience, this one’s worth checking out.
Closing weekend 30th year movie celebration was fun. We saw Batman Forever and my kids loved it.
This cinema is great. The parking is good and it is very accessible to all. There are escalators and elevators going up to the cinema. There are big wide open spaces down below in a small mall type courtyard area where you can get a bite to eat before or after you go to the cinema or even if you don’t. The Gold Class service here was great and the cinema was very clean and comfortable. In our experience it was on par with Chadstone or the Melbourne Central Cinema’s. Just on a smaller scale. Which can be perfect if you don’t want all the fuss of going to a bigger place.
This Cinema is badly decaying and neglected. The escalators have stopped working, the steep stairs or if you can find them the lift to take you up. The Gold Class Experience was quite dated with the food options not really appetising and expensive. You do best to sit in your own comfy lounge at home & have your favourite food hot, than to have food brought to you at the wrong time and having to send back in the dark because it's cold. No Experience at all. Expensive Excercise.
It was old and run down the last time I was there, but it gets an extra star for having the classic charm and personality. VPremium is not worth it at all, tables were sticky and so were the chairs and its just a boring waste of space that is no different to the Standard screenings, its just a "diet" Gold Class. The Standard cinema I was in had better seats but the only problem was that the projector was loud and clunky. In terms of being a functioning cinema, Jam Factory was the worse Village Cinema near Melbourne, but it's better than the overpriced Hoyts Melbourne Central because Jam Factory had personality and charm. Now it's gone for some renovations alongside the entire Jam Factory shopping centre.
