I recently stayed at Novotel for work purposes. Upon check-in, I was advised that breakfast was not included in my booking. After confirming with my workplace that breakfast had in fact been pre-paid and included, I returned to reception to clarify. I was then asked to pay for breakfast upfront and told that, if applicable, a refund would be processed later. Given the clear confirmation in the booking that breakfast was already included, I did not feel comfortable proceeding with an additional charge due to the risk of being double billed. Also noting this seems to be a common problem in the reviews. This created an unnecessary inconvenience at the start of the stay. The room itself was adequate but unremarkable. As there are no opening windows, the space felt quite musty. The bathroom unfortunately had a noticeable odour reminiscent of dirty feet, which impacted the overall comfort. The air conditioning unit was loud and did not cool effectively, while the fridge was even louder and froze all items placed inside it. Overall, I would consider this a three-star experience. It serves its purpose as a place to sleep when needed for convenience near the airport, but there is room for improvement in both service clarity and room maintenance.
Great Hotel, with a reasonably priced restaurant and friendly staff. The room was comfortable. There is a free bus to sky gateway complex as the hotel is a bit away from the domestic terminal (about a 10 minute bus ride) The place where the bus stops is about a five minutes walk from the Hotel entrance, so not ideal if you have mobility issues. That said, it represents great value and would recommend this hotel.
All the people who worked here were very pleasant. The gentlemen who helped us sign in was very accommodating and put myself and my associates on the same level, which made things so much easier for us. He also accomodated an early check in, which we appreciate. My room felt clean and tidy and the beds were really cosy and soft so I could actually get a good sleep, which is really important to me. The people who work in the dinning area are lovely. The people behind the counter were polite and helpful and I love that the people working in the kitchen seemed to be so bubbly and like they were having so much fun. Thats so important to me when I go somewhere too. I like to feel like the people who are working there are happy. Overall, a very positive experience.
The room had the brightest lighting I've ever seen in a hotel room, not a bad thing, but it came with a lot of light switches. The room was good, but the water pressure in the shower was low, very low. An international airport hotel that does not cater for non Australian electrical plugs, you need an adapter. Breakfast was ok not fantastic. The people at reception were proficient, not particularly friendly...
The reception staff was exceptional and were absolutely delighted seeing our young children. Every single one of them tried to give us a drawing book for the kids. At first, one of them checked us in and when we got there housekeeping still hadn't cleaned the room yet. So Emily from reception scrambled and got us another room. An hour or so later Nikki called me apologising profusely and gave us drink vouchers as compensation. In all honesty, I really didn't give it too much thought as it was just a simple mistake. It certainly was a delightful but entirely unexpected surprise. The location is perfect. There is a DFO five minutes walk away with a food court. There's a free shuttle bus that takes you to the airport - the ride is about 15 minutes, give or take. The restaurant downstairs in the lobby is good for an easy buffet breakfast. There is a pool on level five. The gym has a treadmill, stationary bike, yoga mat, and some free weights up to 17kg(?). The room was clean, the towels were presented nicely, and the tv greeted you by name on the home page. It was a comfortable stay.
