Reviews for Novotel Brisbane Airport

I recently stayed at Novotel for work purposes. Upon check-in, I was advised that breakfast was not included in my booking. After confirming with my workplace that breakfast had in fact been pre-paid and included, I returned to reception to clarify. I was then asked to pay for breakfast upfront and told that, if applicable, a refund would be processed later. Given the clear confirmation in the booking that breakfast was already included, I did not feel comfortable proceeding with an additional charge due to the risk of being double billed. Also noting this seems to be a common problem in the reviews. This created an unnecessary inconvenience at the start of the stay. The room itself was adequate but unremarkable. As there are no opening windows, the space felt quite musty. The bathroom unfortunately had a noticeable odour reminiscent of dirty feet, which impacted the overall comfort. The air conditioning unit was loud and did not cool effectively, while the fridge was even louder and froze all items placed inside it. Overall, I would consider this a three-star experience. It serves its purpose as a place to sleep when needed for convenience near the airport, but there is room for improvement in both service clarity and room maintenance.

Novotel Brisbane Airport - Convenient and Comfortable, But Self Check-In Needs Work I recently stayed at the Novotel Brisbane Airport and overall had a very positive experience. The hotel is perfectly located for early flights or late arrivals — just a short drive from the domestic terminal and an easy shuttle ride from international. The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-appointed with comfortable beds, good blackout curtains, and everything you need after a long day of travel. The bathroom was spotless, and the soundproofing is excellent, which is crucial near an airport. The hotel itself feels fresh and welcoming. The pool area is a nice bonus, the gym is well-equipped, and the on-site restaurant serves decent food with friendly service. Staff members I interacted with were helpful and professional. That said, I was disappointed with the self-check-in machines. They felt like a very poor touch for a hotel of this standard. Not only did the system struggle to properly recognise international names (mine required several attempts and manual staff intervention anyway), but the whole process feels impersonal and transactional. It strips away one of the key elements of what staying at a hotel should be — that human welcome and sense of genuine service. After a long flight, a warm greeting at the desk makes a big difference. Machines simply can’t replace that. Despite the check-in frustration, I would still recommend the Novotel Brisbane Airport for its convenience, clean rooms, and solid facilities. Just be aware that the arrival experience could be warmer. A better balance between technology and traditional hospitality would make this place excellent.

Staff was very nice and polite. The rooms were clean and decent. The TV was the slowest technology I've used in a long time. Takes a full 5 seconds to change the channel. The bathroom was an oddity. The toilet ran for the first hour we were there, only to find the retaining collar for the flush button had fallen into the tank and was preventing it from functioning correctly. After I fixed that (and the button), it ran fine. But the shower drain didn't seem to function well. We had to use our towels to keep the water from flooding the bathroom because the drain couldn't keep up with the volume of water. Also, the shower head was the loudest I've ever heard. The pool is on the 5th floor and seems more like a single person lap pool than a play pool. It was not heated and was very cold. The sauna takes a while to heat up, so turn it on, take an ice bath in the pool, then go to the sauna to warm up. The "fitness center" is a tiny room with one of each of the basic machines. Overall, the staff was great, but the hotel maintence left a lot to be desired.

Great Hotel, with a reasonably priced restaurant and friendly staff. The room was comfortable. There is a free bus to sky gateway complex as the hotel is a bit away from the domestic terminal (about a 10 minute bus ride) The place where the bus stops is about a five minutes walk from the Hotel entrance, so not ideal if you have mobility issues. That said, it represents great value and would recommend this hotel.

The wifi was almost entirely unusable. It switched between slow and not functioning at all. I would get a short period of usable internet and then it would be non-functional. Most of the time I couldn't even load the speed test website. I did ring reception and complain. They restarted something. I'm not sure it helped. Certainly not for long. I had colleagues in different rooms/floors and they also reported issues. It was a problem during my entire multi day stay. Maybe even worse at certain times. I ate at the hotel restaurant with a colleague. We gave separate room numbers and without the server saying anything, it was all charged to my room. I now have to awkwardly try and get my colleague to reimburse me after the fact. If the bill couldn't be split then fine, but no one said anything. The food itself was pretty good. Significant portions. I had the chicken schnitzel and the fried cauliflower. This was not helped by the front desk not getting me to verify incidentals when I checked out. I should have requested this, but didn't think of it. I just noticed the unexpectedly large charge on my bank statement. The door to the room bathroom was misaligned. It scraped on the floor when you tried to open/close it. It had clearly been a problem for a while and the door was damaged from the scraping. Otherwise the room was pretty good and comfortable. The front desk staff were generally pretty friendly/helpful. We were working at the airport and the location was convenient, but next time I will be strongly trying to get my employer to book a different hotel. The wifi was just completely unacceptable. It would only be feasible if you didn't use it and were hotspotting the entire time.
