We stayed for 10 days and given the price were expecting a premium experience with high quality facilities. We had two adjoining rooms and both were very dated and needed a deep clean. Floors clearly not deep cleaned for a considerable period and the couch in the living area heavily stained - to the point I was not comfortable sitting on it. Furniture in the restaurant the same, many stains and a lack of general cleanliness. Disappointing arrival with signage not clearly marking building carpark entrances. We had to carry our own bags to our room - second floor and no lift. Restaurant not open for dinner two nights a week, no room service, no coordinated activities. Trying to stream via the TV’s is an absolute nightmare. Had someone come to the room to sort out only to say the problem was we weren’t on the “premium” package of Netflix (which was not the case). We gave up in the end. General maintenance not to the level it should be anywhere, particularly along the boundary of the property with broken fences, trolleys of rubbish or washing to be collected -> this is the view we experienced upon arrival, when we finally found where to park our car. Having checked reviews over the last few months it is clear all of the above has previously been raised with the standard response of taking feedback into future planning obviously not having any impact. The experience would be described as 3-4 star at best and I consider overpriced.
We visited Cairns to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary and, based on recommendations that Palm Cove would offer a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, we decided to move from a hotel in the city to one here. Sadly, our expectations were not met. The hotel felt busy and noisy throughout the day. The central pool was filled with children and even some adults throwing balls around, making it difficult to simply sit by the loungers and enjoy a peaceful conversation. Many guests also left their belongings on the beach chairs for hours without using them, leaving little space for others. What made the stay even more frustrating was the lack of basic service. Our only request—a travel adapter—was dismissed with a blunt “We don’t have any,” delivered without the slightest concern. To add to that, the Wi-Fi did not work, and the hotel offered no compensation of any kind. We still have one more night here, and while we truly love Australia—this being our second visit—our experience in Palm Cove has been quite disappointing. However, the staff were all very kind and attentive. The gentleman at the concierge desk kindly called the restaurant on our behalf to inquire about a reservation and offered us helpful information with great courtesy. The two ladies at the reception desk also assisted us in arranging an early check-in, and as soon as our room was ready, they personally came to the pool to let us know. (It’s not just the Wi-Fi, when the manager’s like this, no wonder the service is too.)
We really enjoyed our stay at peppers Palm cove. It was so well located, with everything you could possibly need right outside your doorstep (including the beach and the playground). The variety of pools was great as we spent most of our days moving between them. Just a couple of things stopped it from being a five star stay. The lifts weren’t working for majority of our stay which made it incredibly difficult with a toddler and pram moving up and down the stairs regularly. I know it was out of their control as they were waiting for a part but it made things really difficult. The other is that it wasn’t made clear on booking that a cot would be an additional $15 a night only that they were available. I was informed 2 weeks before check-in via email. We probably would have gone with different accommodation if we knew this at the time of booking. Also wished there was an in-room service option for those days where you just don’t feel like leaving the room.
We stayed for 5 days at Peppers recently and loved it! Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and accomodating for any request we had. Daniel was our first point of contact there and he was so lovely to deal with. We were given some vouchers by him to help celebrate a special occasion which we were very appreciative of. The grounds themselves are absolutely beautiful and the pool is unbeatable. We met so many people who return each year and I can see why. Highly recommend!
We stayed in a penthouse on the 3rd floor and it was fitted out with all you need Lagoon Pool is great, even if somewhat deeper than it needs to be at 2m deep, and the water temperature is warm. Breakfast was good (especially the pancake machine) and the fruits and Yoghurts smartly kept cool and on ice in enclosures It is nice but probably too pricey for what you get.
