Reviews for Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort & Spa

We arrived at Pullman Sea Temple Port Douglas on a Saturday. Over the course of four days, the main pool steadily deteriorated — from slightly cloudy to dark green and, in appearance, resembling a swamp. Despite this, resort staff repeatedly assured guests that the water was “safe to swim.” The pool largely remained accessible, with limited and poorly positioned signage. Even during brief periods when the pool was reportedly closed, signs were placed in common or corridor areas, which was ineffective for a resort dominated by swim-out rooms. As a result, many guests continued using the pool directly outside their accommodation. What I found particularly disappointing was the attitude taken by resort staff when concerns were raised. At one point, it was explicitly stated to us that we were “not their customer” because our accommodation had been privately rented. This was said openly and left a very poor impression, especially given the ongoing issues impacting the stay. Resort staff consistently maintained that the pool was safe to swim in, despite the water being so unclear that the pool floor was not visible. They also refused to acknowledge that notification of closures was ineffective, which led to us entering the pool directly from our swim-out area without any awareness that it had been closed. During the stay, I developed what a medical professional described as folliculitis, a skin condition that can be associated with exposure to unclean water. I cannot state definitively that the pool caused this, but the timing and circumstances were concerning. By contrast, the private accommodation owner was significantly more professional and empathetic. They acknowledged the challenges we faced — including the lack of a usable pool for much of the stay — and, while limited in what they could do, they did provide a small amount of compensation, which was appreciated. For a resort positioned as a premium destination, the lack of transparency, empathy, and guest-focused care was deeply disappointing. Based on our experience, I would not return or recommend this property.

Had an amazing week at Pullmans the 3 Bedroom villa was perfect for our family and so comfy and relaxing. Molly was hands down the best of all staff she was always friendly and helpful and it was clear she is very good at her job. The two other ladies at breakfast were also fantastic unfortunately we were unable to get the names but the one in the bar making coffees made some of the best coffees. We also had a helpful lady at reception book our tours who was also very friendly. Finally the ladies in the vie spa did a great job of our body massages. Only critism was the cocktail sizes for $26 i was expecting the tall glasses or a cocktail glass but when receiving a small whiskey size glass with lots of ice i was a bit shocked. We tried a different cocktail and again received a tiny glass. But on my last full day i asked Molly what cocktails come in the taller glass and was able to enjoy a good Moana cocktail. Thank you again for a lovely stay.

Staff members were friendly and accomodating to requests! Breakfast had a big selection of items and seating was ample, would recommend the breakfast. My partner and I really enjoyed the relaxing environment of the resort. Lagoon was big and clean! Room spa however was not the cleanest but had great facilities within them. The location is quiet from the town centre.

We stayed for 2 nights with kids. Check in included a glass of sparkling wine or a mocktail. Accommodations were neat, clean, and well maintained. The pool was great, breakfast was very good. Breakfast started at 7AM, which made early adventures out a little challenging. We scheduled activities that allowed us to be conveniently picked up at the hotel too, which was nice. Parking looked challenging at first, but we got a convenient spot every time. We had a hot tub, but it was too hot outside to want to use, instead we cooled off in the pool.

Lovely staff who were great at accommodating requests. In particular our stay was made extra special by Lucile at Aluco restaurant whose attention to detail, calm friendly manner and holiday activity suggestions made all the difference. She also makes the best coffee! Thank you Lucile. Thank you to Irene from the spa for helping us choose gifts. Merry Christmas to you all.
