I've had such a beautiful stay here! The security is top notch for parking. The reception staff are so helpful, efficient, fast to address any little detail, and have gone above and beyond for any and every request I've had. I'm in Melbourne for a conference and could not have picked a better hotel to patron. Yesterday, I enjoyed a beautiful meal in the hotel restaurant downstairs, pork belly to start, a perfectly cooked eye filet, and a chocolate brownie with a small scoop of vanilla icecream to finish. It has been such a beautiful stay. I'm looking forward to booking again in a fortnight for the second half of the conference I'm attending. đ

I'm currently staying at Crest on Barkly and can already make the following observations. 1) The staff are pleasant. There's a woman who was a bit more pleasant than the others, but that's fine. Anyway, they gave me a card for my room that was also meant to get me into the 'garage' (as well as the gym) but when I tried to use it it didn't work. I was parked at the gate battling with access when another boarder just happened to be walking by and kindly swiped me in. (Thank you, whoever you are.) Once in, however, there was the small task of getting out. Well, that turned out to be easier than I expected because there was another gate at the end of the property that was wide open which allowed me to exit. *It also happened to allow two apparent bicycle thieves to enter and case the place. I know this because I caught them on my phone just as I myself had back come down to the car park after getting my card sorted to collect my own bike from my car. But that's another story. Anyway... When I came back up to get my card authorised, there was next to no acknowledgement of the error. Not the best. 2) One of the staff took $60 for parking and a $150 deposit from my card for any damages. She initially called it a hold, scanned the card, then basically said, "Oh, because you have a debit card we unfortunately took the amount from your account and will have to refund you." Huh?? She then asked for my card to copy (Why? Dunno) and I, without thinking (long day + tendency to be trusting), handed it over and watched as she copied it. After having read many of the other comments around people being taken for their deposits over fraudulent claims of damages and such, I've already taken detailed pictures of my room (been in here less than 24 hours) so as to avoid any such claims. I also plan to alert my bank just to be safe. 3) The room itself is pleasant. Nice tv, nice ac. Yeah, tidy overall. Will update this review as the stay goes on...

Currently staying at Como Court/Crest on Barkly through crisis accommodation support, and honestly the way I was treated this morning was really upsetting. At around 4am I ordered food from Chapelliâs â a pizza and pasta meal that cost me close to $70. When it arrived, I realised there was no cutlery provided. I went to the front desk because there is literally a restaurant inside the building with tables already set up with cutlery. I politely asked if I could borrow a fork just to eat my meal. The staff member flat out refused. No attempt to help, no compromise, no empathy whatsoever. I was told I could wait until the downstairs shop opened later and maybe buy disposable cutlery then. What upset me most wasnât even the fork â it was the way I was made to feel. People staying in crisis accommodation are still human beings and deserve basic respect and dignity. Nobody should be left feeling like they are somehow âless thanâ because their accommodation is being supported. A tiny bit of compassion and customer service would have gone a very long way this morning. Response: I appreciate the response, however I feel it misrepresents the actual issue. While Como Court and Crest on Barkly may technically operate as separate entities, guests access the same reception desk, staff assistance, laundry facilities, key services and general front-of-house operations through Crest on Barkly. From a guest perspective, these services are integrated. I also want to clarify that I was not asking for restaurant property to be permanently removed or taken. I simply asked reception for assistance so I could eat the meal I had just purchased at 4am. Importantly, I was not offered an immediate alternative that I âdeclined.â I was advised I could potentially purchase disposable cutlery later when another shop downstairs opened. That is very different from being provided with a practical solution at the time. My review was never about demanding special treatment. It was about the manner in which the interaction was handled. Policies are understandable, but empathy, problem-solving and basic customer service still matter. A small amount of understanding in that moment would have completely changed the experience.

Love this hotel as a base for friends and family when they visit us in Melbourne. The rooms weâve booked have been huge and clean, the 24/7 concierge desk handy, and the adjoining cafe makes brilliant coffee. They have always gone out of their way to make sure everything is perfect and I canât fault their quality of service. They have recently updated their restaurant and brightened up the exterior too, and it makes a lovely home away from home. The location is perfect for us and everything you need is only a short walk. Plus being literally at a bus stop, across the road from a tram stop and short walk to the junction means our guests can be really independent. Itâs only a 20min tram ride into the city too.

Iâm really disappointed with our recent stay at the Crest on Barkley. From the moment we checked in, things just didnât meet basic expectations of cleanliness and service. The shower was grimy and clearly hadnât been properly cleaned before we arrived. On top of that, the water wouldnât drain properly, so it would pool around your feet every time you used it â not exactly a relaxing experience. What made things worse was the lack of housekeeping. Our room wasnât serviced for three days straight, despite us expecting at least a basic refresh during our stay. We ended up having to reuse towels and deal with rubbish piling up. We emailed the hotel about these issues while we were still there, hoping theyâd sort it out or at least respond. Itâs now been a week and we havenât heard anything back, which just adds to the frustration. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, poor maintenance, and complete absence of communication made this a really disappointing stay. I wouldnât return or recommend. Absolutely not a 4 star hotel as advertised.
