Why you'll love Hellenic Museum

  • Features sophisticated event spaces suitable for any events.
  • Within a 5 minute walk from Flagstaff Train Station with access to affordable parking next door to the venue.
  • Australia's only museum showcasing 8,000 years Greek art, history and culture.

Brimming with historic relevance, The Hellenic Museum is currently situated in the former Royal Mint Building positioned centrally within Melbourne’s CBD. It is Australia's only museum dedicated to celebrating Greek art, history and culture, from the ancient to the contemporary. Don’t let the otherwise busy and crammed central city location fool you. The idyllically lush private garden situated behind the original building is home to a purpose-built event structure by renowned architect, Sean Godsell. The perfect space for both warm or cooler days, this box-like structure is the immaculate entertaining construction for either sit-down dinners, cocktail gatherings, or ceremonies alike.

If indoors is not your thing, the gardens can house ceremonies or opulent garden parties to celebrate your special day also. Inside the heritage-listed building is the private room, aptly titled ‘The Henson Room’, with moody interiors glazed in golds and regal navy blues, and of course, filled wall-to-wall with iconic Henson artworks referencing Hellenic iconography. The impressive Grand Foyer can cater for up to 200 people, whilst the museum space (with rotating exhibitions) can also be used for a truly bespoke event.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had the absolute pleasure of conducting another wedding at the Hellenic Museum, and once again, it completely exceeded all expectations. This stunning venue, right in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, truly captures elegance, charm, and history all in one. The outdoor ceremony area is simply breathtaking-set beneath the most magnificent and grand oak tree I’ve ever seen. It provides the perfect blend of natural light and soft shade, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere for couples and guests alike. The indoor spaces are equally beautiful, offering versatility and comfort no matter the weather. The Hellenic Museum staff are outstanding -professional, warm, and an absolute delight to work with. They go above and beyond to ensure everything runs seamlessly, which makes such a difference on a wedding day. What makes this venue so special is not only its beauty but also its rich history and cultural depth. It adds a unique sense of meaning and character to every celebration held there. I highly recommend the Hellenic Museum for weddings, it’s a true gem in Melbourne, perfect for couples who want a setting that is both naturally stunning and historically captivating. An unforgettable experience every single time!

The museum was really cool and had loads to look at. For $16pp entry, it's definitely worth it, especially on a rainy day. Some more seating would have been nice to enjoy the displays and the visuals on the screens but overall a great experience and the staff were super friendly.

A great place to expose yourself to ancient greek history through recovered artifacts and sculptures. You can spend about 1-2 hours here, unless you are going into a lot of the details.

Had a great experience today at the Hellenic museum. Lady at the front was incredibly helpful and kind. I was amazed at their collection of Ancient Greek Artefacts. Here are some must see pieces. Definitely a very well displayed exhibition.

They have a decent amount of artifacts and art installations relating to Greek ancient cultures and history. Got the chance to visit for free during Open House Melbourne, but I was visiting with my toddler so I didn't get to walk slow and read the writings accompanying each artifact, but even with the quick walkthrough, some areas impressed me by immersing me into the experience. Normally $12 entry, kids under 6 free.
