When a hotel is getting a revamp, you can understand a drop in facilities. But, when errors are made by night auditors and debits are made in your bank account after you have checked out, that's a different story. My wife and I were there for one night in 25 August, now over 2 weeks ago. I had authorised my $200 deposit when arriving. We left the next morning and 3 days later my bank was credited with this deposit less a happy hour purchase of $16. Then two days later an additional $16 was debited from my bank. No email or phone call to explain. My email enquiry was given a response another day later advising they missed a charge . I accepted this explanation and suggested some feedback about communication. Then on Sunday 6 Sept, I had yest another debit from my account for the same amount again, and now despite my request to return this charge to my bank by the reception and the Manager, no communication, no refund , nothing has happened. As an ACCOR member, this is a dismal representation of hospitality. ACCOR need to lift their game.
10/10 stay! We stayed for our anniversary weekend and the staff were so friendly and helped make it extra special. The room was so spacious and the spa bath in our room was delightful. The lagoon pool is fantastic and honestly I could lounge by it all day! Great restaurants/cafes within walking distance. Honestly we can’t wait to come back!
I was expecting a lot more given this is rated as a 5 star hotel. Room was very shabby. Bathroom needs refurb. Mattress was lumpy. TV was tiny and cheap and looked out of place. There is an incentive to not have your room serviced. In which case a sign should be hung on the door to indicate this and you will be credited 100 Accor points. I did not hang the sign as I wanted a room refresh. However when I returned in the evening the room had not been touched. Sad. The plunge pool had mosquitoes breeding on the water and looked a bit green. I have been an Accor member for a long time now and stay in many hotels in Australia and abroad. I know what a 5 star hotel is. Peppers Salt Kingscliff is not that. It’s 4 stars. As there is no in room dining. The property needs an overhaul and better in house services to be rated as 5 stars. Also. Noticed there was only one cup in the cupboard. Which didn’t bother me as it was just me. However that indicates an either slack HSK dept or under staffed HSK dept. No luggage rack provided and nowhere to place your bag other than on the floor. On the positive side. FOH staff are good as are F&B staff. I did not interact with housekeeping. Did not see anyone at all. So cannot comment. PS. My welcome card named me as Shane. That’s not me 😆 So apologies to whoever received my card.
We stayed for 6 days. Day 1 I realised my bedside lamp was faulty. When I reported to reception they were fairly dismissive and said to just turn it off. They half heartedly offered to send maintenance but it was clearly an inconvenience so for the week I didn't use the lamp. The hair dryer had clearly been dropped numerous times and it was the one time I didn't bring mine so I had to deal with using one that the attachments didn't stay on. The toaster was a cheap toaster. It worked but it felt light weight and cheap and things got stuck easily. Not a deal breaker. There was 1 spare roll of toilet paper for the week so we had to ask for more which is a bit embarrassing and I have never had to do this anywhere else. I understand rooms not being cleaned every day but to not do them at all for a 6 day stay wreaks of cost cutting. There are beach pools and we stayed in a pool room so the floor was gritty and we kept tracking stuff into the bed. There was nothing we could use to fix this. The kitchen bin was full but I had no idea where to empty them to. There was no spare blankets but there were pillows. We paid for the buffet breakfast package and it was just really average and not worth the money. We went about 9am on the days we went. The hash browns were over done but had clearly sat there since opening so were cold. I was surprised there wasn't an auto coffee machine and that we had to still pay for coffee on top considering how much the breakfast was. Things were cold from sitting out. I did love the pancake machine but we paid for breakfast elsewhwere a couple of mornings which was much better.and cost abiut the same as the hotel. It was a lovely hotel but it felt like cost cutting and it was a bit disappointing. The lamp thing really annoyed me to be honest. The hotel was not remotely full. It would have been so easy for someone to have grabbed a lamp from an empty room and swapped it out.
Had a great stay at Peppers Salt Resort. As an Accor Diamond member, I really appreciated the room upgrade, welcome drinks and complimentary breakfast. The apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the resort itself is in a great location. Friendly staff and good value for what I paid. I’d happily stay again.
