Reviews for Mondrian Gold Coast

Overall, The Mondrian is a hotel I love but there are a few areas of improvement: Pros: - amazing location, a truly beachside hotel within walking distance to the buzz of James St. The close proximity to playgrounds and Tallebudgera Beach is a major plus for families! - rooms are modern and beautifully appointed and very child friendly - the gym is great and the pool is small, but still very lovely - great breakfast service. I availed of my Accor privileges which was great value. Our waiter Ansa/Anna was exceptionally lovely Cons: - staff hospitality was very variable, ranging from exceptional (there was a lovely man from NZ whose name I didn't catch but he was warm and welcoming and extremely kind) to somewhat apathetic. I think staff training would be worthwhile to standardise the experience. - the lifts! We were there in peak season and it would take an average of 8-12 minutes to secure a lift, by which point we were often packed like sardines! It was such a constant source of delay that we had to factor it into our schedule. An additional lift would really enhance the experience - extra cost of amenities. Charging guest parking for a five star hotel is really extortionate and unnecessary. Self parking should be a standard inclusion. We also had to pay for surfboards and cabanas (the latter being $100!) - having complimentary use of these would be a lovely touch as is offered in other places like Halcyon House.

Absolutely loved our stay at Mondrian Gold Coast. Easily one of the best hotels my wife and I have stayed in. The location is perfect, being right across the road from the beach and the level of detail in the architecture, finishes and interior design created a truly memorable experience which is commensurate of the price. The only criticism I have is around the pool area. It’s quite small for a hotel of Mondrians size and given it’s not an adults only area, can get quite busy with people splashing and jumping in the pool. Would have been great to have two pools, one which was adults only and another separate one for kids. The pool beds are located right near the pool and can get wet easily. It’s not the most relaxing experience when you’re trying to read or unwind. The magnesium pools promote a health and wellness mantra, but when you go to use them they are full of kids which is not overly enticing for an adult to utilise. The design and amenities in the room are some of the best I’ve seen in any hotel I have stayed in. Loved the lighting, curved interiors and technology in the room. It created an ambient experience which my wife and I loved. The hotel gave us an early check in and late check out free of charge which was very much appreciated. I would recommend Mondrian to any of my friends and family. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in quite easily and we would definitely be back!

What an excellent way to start the holidays…this hotel is definitely my new favourite spot up north. The moment you step into the hotel you feel the warmth and luxurious atmosphere. We stayed here for 7 nights and were just wowed…we had the XL room which had everything from washing machine, full kitchen and the best views of the coast…huge thanks to Rainee for her assistance with making this the most memorable experience for my two little girls. Will definitely be back soon. To top it off they have one of the best gyms in a hotel….brand new Technogym fit out. I found this hotel to be family friendly and also would be a great destination for the adults for a romantic getaway.

Update: after hotel duty manager reached out and was very helpful and kind, have updated review to reflect the service received - now 5 stars. Beautiful hotel with impeccably styled rooms in the perfect location on the beach in Burleigh. Service is hit and miss and is the real letdown here. Some staff were great, including on check in and at Haven. However, a bucket of ice was never delivered to the room despite two phone calls over two hours, pool bar staff were cold and unfriendly and spoke to each other in their own language in front of guests, and most disappointingly, the reception staff broke an expensive and sentimental bottle of wine that was in a wine bag on top of the luggage we stored after check out, and not only was no apology offered, a follow up phone call was promised which has surprise surprise, not eventuated.

My partner and I stayed one night in the King Studio XL with Ocean View. The view and facilities were genuinely amazing, but unfortunately several service issues really overshadowed our stay. We called ahead and were told to phone on the day, which we did. We were advised that early check-in should be possible and that the team would call us once the room was ready. We never received a call or message, so we ended up having to follow up ourselves at the desk. I had prepaid parking with a specific car registration, but on the day we used a different car. None of the staff seemed to know what to do and simply created a new booking, telling us it would be “sorted on checkout.” When we checked out, we were nearly charged twice because the prepaid parking had not been cancelled or updated correctly. Fortunately, the checkout staff member was able to fix it, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. When we finally got to our room, we found the previous guest’s underwear on the floor. For a 5-star hotel, this was extremely disappointing and made us question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. Guest services did come and remove it, but it definitely affected our confidence in the room’s hygiene. The day after we checked out, we received an invoice showing a mini-bar charge for Brazilian nuts we did not consume. The only thing we used was one espresso pod and the complimentary milk. It took about 10–15 minutes on the phone for guest services to even locate our booking due to difficulties spelling my name. We were then told “yes, you took the Brazilian nuts,” which was simply incorrect they hadn’t been restocked from the previous guest. Overall, while the hotel itself is stunning, the service inconsistencies, cleanliness oversight, and billing errors made our experience far below what we expected from a 5-star property. With better communication, attention to detail, and more confident staff processes, this could have been a great stay — but unfortunately, it missed the mark for us.
