Found Hadley's last minute and what an outstanding experience. We actually stayed twice in our trip! Mila and Ash were both so wonderful and accommodating and funny. They always helped with our baggage to and from our room and the car! All the staff clearly enjoy their jobs and their genuine hospitality is outstanding. The rooms are incredibly quaint, big beds, very quiet, warm and have heaps of extra pillows! And the bathrooms are recently renovated and are luxurious. I will absolutely be recommending the Hadley to anyone visiting Hobart! Thank you again!

My husband and I had been thoroughly enjoying our two-week trip around Tasmania, so it was extremely disappointing that our final stay at Hadley’s Orient Hotel left us with such an unpleasant impression, particularly because of the front desk service. The following comments (attached) from other guests accurately reflect our experience, and unfortunately we completely agree with them. When we arrived to check in, the front desk informed us that the parking area was some distance away and advised us to unload our luggage first before parking the car. We were also told that the luggage would be taken to our room while my husband parked the car. I then struggled to carry all of our luggage for two people into the lobby by myself while my husband went to park. Despite seeing me clearly struggling, nobody offered any assistance. What upset me most was what happened afterward. Since I could not simply leave all of our luggage unattended in the lobby, I tried to speak to the front desk staff member who had instructed us to unload it. Although he was speaking with another guest, I believe it would have been perfectly reasonable to briefly acknowledge me and say something like, “We’ll bring your luggage up shortly, please feel free to go to your room first.” Instead, I was completely ignored for more than five minutes. When I was finally able to ask for assistance, the staff member responded with an audible sigh or tongue-click of annoyance, which felt extremely rude and disrespectful. Even when I asked where our room was located, I was ignored again. To be fair, the staff member who later brought our luggage to the room was very polite and pleasant. However, by that point the impression created by the front desk service was already overwhelmingly negative. The room itself was also disappointing. The walls were so thin that we could clearly hear our neighbors talking and moving around, making it difficult to relax. The bathroom was extremely small, with virtually no space to place toiletries or makeup. In addition, although two people were staying in the room, only one set of shampoo and conditioner was provided. After traveling all around Tasmania and staying in many different accommodations, this was by far the most disappointing hotel experience we had. Given the hotel’s high ratings, we honestly find it difficult to understand how it is rated so highly. We will not return, and unfortunately we would not recommend this hotel to friends or family.

So bloody beautiful! A real privilege to be able to stay somewhere so historically rich and brimming with character. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The decor is awe-inspiring, I could spend hours just admiring every detail. There was a scheduled singing pianist at 5pm on Saturday that was so wonderful. The bar's cocktails weren't good, nor was the breakfast. But in the rooms the shower was amazing, the pressure was great with hot water. I thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary newspaper of the place. The floor was uneven and felt like it was bouncing beneath my feet which should be considering but honestly I found it charming.

Motel has lots of old world charm, but my personal preference for the room was not up to my expectations. The bed was a single and were extremely soft and I sank into the mattress and didn't get a really good night's sleep and the interior lighting in the room was very poor. It was all lamps and light shades. No overhead lighting at all

We stayed at Hadley’s Orient Hotel as a family group of three, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel itself is stunning — full of old-world charm, character and history. The grand staircase, artwork and elegant décor really make it feel like you’re staying somewhere special, not just another hotel. Our family room was enormous, beautifully presented, and immaculately clean. It easily accommodated the three of us and never felt cramped. One of the highlights was the view across to St David’s Cathedral — a gorgeous outlook and something we genuinely looked forward to each morning. The staff were outstanding throughout our stay, and the breakfast service deserves a special mention. Sarah in particular was absolutely lovely — warm, welcoming and genuinely attentive. She made breakfast each morning a real pleasure and is a true credit to the hotel. The location is also unbeatable. Everything is within easy walking distance — Salamanca Place, the waterfront, shops, cafés and the MONA ferry — which made getting around Hobart effortless. Hadley’s offers much more than just accommodation; it offers an experience. For families wanting space, comfort, history and exceptional service right in the heart of Hobart, we couldn’t recommend it more highly. We would happily stay here again.
