I stayed here on a business trip to Sydney and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The hotel is very centrally located and just a short walk to excellent restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping, and the train station, which made getting everywhere I needed to go incredibly easy. The check-in process was seamless. Since my room wasn’t ready when I arrived, they handled all the paperwork right away, stored my bags, and let me know they would text me the moment it was available. I just grabbed a coffee in the beautiful lobby, freshened up in the ground-floor bathroom, and headed out to explore the neighborhood. I had also ordered a few items online to be sent to the hotel ahead of my stay. The reception team quickly confirmed they had arrived safely and held them for me to retrieve whenever I wanted, which was incredibly convenient. The building itself is stunning, and I absolutely loved the heritage Art Deco design. Walking into the reception area and lobby from the street is an experience in itself, with its high ceilings, ornate pillars, and gorgeous hanging lights. Another fantastic touch is their daily social hour in the lobby from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, where guests can unwind and enjoy complimentary red, white, or sparkling wine. My room was spacious, modern, and clean. After being out for meetings the entire day, returning to such a comfortable and quiet space for a good night's rest was exactly what I needed. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and top-tier service. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Sydney!

I stayed at the Kimpton Margot Sydney for six nights in January 2026 in a King Bed Essential room. First of all, the hotel has a superb location. It's a short walk to the George Street tram line, Town Hall and Gadigal train stations and various bus stands. The hotel building, constructed in the 1930s, was originally the headquarters of the local water board. When it was converted into a hotel, the art deco style of its era was retained. The lobby area is spectacular, with pink granite columns and plenty of seating. My room, despite being one of the basic types, was spacious and beautifully furnished and presented, with blue and gold carpet, brass lamps and dark wood cabinetry. I particularly liked the extensive storage in the form of many cupboards, shelves and drawers. The room had the latest technology, with electronically controlled lights and a Samsung tablet that contained hotel information. You could use the tablet to order room service, contact reception and so on. My only negative comment about the room is the shower was the handheld type and didn't have the best water pressure. All reception and dining/bar staff I interacted with were polite, efficient and helpful. There was a minor issue one morning when a staff member kind of barged into my room to check the mini bar. I reported this to reception on check-out and they were very apologetic, promised to escalate the matter internally and gave me a credit against some food expenses on my bill.

We stayed here on April during the ANZAC period 2026. I’d like to thank the young man Von for his warm assistance on our first day. He kindly offered to help with our luggage and arranged storage while we went out for lunch before check-in. They also called us just before 3 pm to let us know our room was ready. As part of the AMEX Hotel Collection benefits, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a room upgrade, early check-in, and a late checkout until 2 pm without even needing to ask. The staff proactively explained all our benefits, which we really appreciated. A special mention as well to the lovely lady at the breakfast check-in with black-and-white hair — she was incredibly thoughtful, always checking if our son wanted another juice or if we’d like more coffee. We also loved that breakfast was freshly made to order rather than buffet-style. Lastly, the concierge, Buster, was fantastic — very friendly, helpful, and great with our son during checkout. Overall, the staff were exceptional.. We can’t wait to return and book another stay at this hotel — it truly deserves five stars from us. The location is top-notch right in the heart of the CBD. You cannot beat it. P.S. Be sure to try the room service — it was excellent. The food arrived quickly, was delicious, and we enjoyed it so much we ordered twice during our stay. The hotel also offers a daily social hour from 5 pm to 6 pm, where guests can enjoy a complimentary alcoholic drink in the lobby and socialise. It was a lovely touch and a very thoughtful gesture from Kimpton.

Great hotel. The service was really good, quick and helpful. Shout out for Jamie (in the hat) who advised where to access medical help locally. Location was good. Bar reasonably priced and good atmosphere. All staff very attentive. Recommend. We returned three times over the month of Jan 26

Lovely big room, quiet and comfy bed. Couldn’t find the compendium - might have been digital on the TV, but had to ring reception for info about things. No toothpaste in the room. Left my phone charger and brick in room on checkout…. Rang hotel immediately but “nothing had been found”. This is what takes a hotel to the next level… when you leave something in the room and it is returned to you safely. I know it was my fault, but it’s happened before in other hotels, and I’ve had things returned to me. Loved the original tiles and steel windows. The perfumy smell in the lobby is overpowering though - smelt like a teenagers bedroom.
