A room with a view was booked, but on arrival the “garden view” transpired to be the view of a bushy tree from the first floor about 10 feet from our window. I complained and was offered a far inferior room (old and in need of maintenance) but at least it had a view. The shower only provided about 3 minutes of warm water and the carpet was heavily stained, I suspect a party had been in the room sometimes previously. The buffet breakfast and Dinner was passable but not high quality. In all a disappointment on what could have been a great stay
Only stayed 1 of our nights, still had to pay at full but at least got a refund. Toilet was dusty (pubic hair on toilet 🥲) and room wasn't vacuumed, stairs were unlit on balcony (ad said unsafe for kids but is just unsafe in general). They said that was one of their better rooms too (which if so... would've hated to see the others) Advertised that Spa was available, but wasn't- which looking at reviews on other sites this is a common occurrence. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
Some mixed reactions here. The Good... 1. The breakfast buffet has crumpets, I have been travelling most weeks for the last year and have always wondered why no one does crumpets, and what do you know, the last business trip of the year I find crumpets. 2. The Pool, the pool looks amazing, 3. The resort feel, where you are away from the hustle and bustle. (also could be a bad thing) 4. The bed is luxurious, and soft and like a cloud, the best hotel bed of the year for me. sheets were nice and clean, and the only hotel this year that I have slept the whole night without waking The Bad 1. Rooms are mostly clean, but a bit dated. 2. Room 720 has the trees outside, which is nice and private feeling, but also a bit dark from no sun. 3. Cleanliness, the room was mostly clean, except for the toilet, the lid was closed, but still the previous persons skid marks in the bowl, and the hugest black pubic hair I have ever seen on the toilet. 4. If you are on foot, it is a long way to go to get some food if not eating in the restaurant, this is also a good thing to be away from it all, but worth keeping in mind
We had a wonderful time a the copthore bay of islands. Just perfect for a treat for a family. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming and helpful. Maia and Catalina especially so for us. The full breakfast buffet was superb and really set us up for the day. Plenty of variety for kids and adults and of a good quality. The bedrooms were very comfortable - the beds were divine. There is a bit of staining in the typical places like the bathroom tile grouting, but overall for a slightly dated hotel we were very pleased. We had poolside rooms so at night we had a little noise, so popping ear plugs in was needed when we wanted an early night. It wasn’t totally clear what the house keeping and rest of the day menu was for the restaurant so l would have liked an in room printed compendium. But a small suggestion really. Great location for visits to Waitangi. We hope to be back.
Underrated! In a lovely setting by the water. Initial facade is a bit dated but the rooms look recently refreshed. Dinner was excellent - we were served by the lovely and efficient Rylie. Breakfast was really good as well, had everything you’d want.
