Very flexible staff. Due to a flight cancellation, we initially had to leave one day earlier, and the hotel kindly arranged to cancel our last night free of charge. However, after another last-minute change by the airline, our flight was moved two days later instead, so we needed to extend our stay again. This was also no problem. Although we had to change rooms because our original room category was fully booked, the team prioritized cleaning the new room so we could switch rooms seamlessly at the same time as check-out and check-in. Well done! Refurbished rooms are great. Very nice outdoor pool area.

Stayed at Copthorne Paihia for 3 nights over Christmas. Check-in was extremely disappointing. We arrived early and were told our room hadn’t been cleaned yet and that we would be messaged once it was ready. At official check-in time, we hadn’t heard anything, so we queued again only to be told the room was still not ready. No solutions or alternatives were offered—just told to wait another 10–15 minutes. After waiting again with no communication, we lined up a third time and were finally told the room was ready. When we raised concerns about the lack of communication, staff dismissed it and blamed being busy with check-ins, which felt unprofessional and dismissive. The room itself was nice and the bed was comfortable. The pool was okay, nothing outstanding, and could definitely use better cleaning as there were a lot of leaves and debris. The hot spa pool was a highlight. There were not enough poolside umbrellas or chairs for the number of guests, and parking was very limited. Finding a park felt like the Hunger Games. To add insult to injury, checkout was equally terrible. After checking out, we were informed that there were room service charges on our room that we did not make. Staff checked the signature from the room service slip and confirmed it did not match our signature. When we asked how this could have happened, no proper explanation was given, only that they had new staff and it was busy. Not reassuring at all. The only consistently positive part of our stay was the kitchen staff. They were excellent, and the breakfast buffet was good. Overall, the poor check-in and checkout experiences, combined with the lack of communication and accountability, completely overshadowed the stay. We won’t be coming back and do not recommend this hotel.

Check in was from 2 pm however our room was not available to till 2.50, sat in the lobby waiting whilst others given a voucher to have a drink in the bar. Rooms dated, need some practice cleaning mirrors with smudges all over them. Handwash only in the shower had to get it to the handbasin to wash hands. Iron was a safety issue with the inner wires exposed. Good breakfast selection. Location is great.

Some mixed reactions here. The Good... 1. The breakfast buffet has crumpets, I have been travelling most weeks for the last year and have always wondered why no one does crumpets, and what do you know, the last business trip of the year I find crumpets. 2. The Pool, the pool looks amazing, 3. The resort feel, where you are away from the hustle and bustle. (also could be a bad thing) 4. The bed is luxurious, and soft and like a cloud, the best hotel bed of the year for me. sheets were nice and clean, and the only hotel this year that I have slept the whole night without waking The Bad 1. Rooms are mostly clean, but a bit dated. 2. Room 720 has the trees outside, which is nice and private feeling, but also a bit dark from no sun. 3. Cleanliness, the room was mostly clean, except for the toilet, the lid was closed, but still the previous persons skid marks in the bowl, and the hugest black pubic hair I have ever seen on the toilet. 4. If you are on foot, it is a long way to go to get some food if not eating in the restaurant, this is also a good thing to be away from it all, but worth keeping in mind

Rooms dated - old style shower inside bath, need updating. Rooms not soundproof and any doors opened or closed echo through all other rooms, woken up multiple times at night and early mornings by what sounded like doors slamming all through wing. Breakfast buffet has good range but no service on tables whatsoever. Pool area a bit dated - hotel just need a good refresh and upgrade to service
