Was a lovely museum that goings into detail about multiple wars that Australia has aided or participated in took in. There are some simulation videos that seem very real - be aware when bringing anyone that has experienced war. The simulation videos however is a great piece that can educate and help immerse the average person on what war can feel like and help bring about reflection. The museum houses many beautiful areas to explore and allows for peaceful reflection. Has great photo opportunities, has lift available for accessibility, has public toilets, and is a very big building, so allow for a longer time frame to explore (approx 2.5hrs will be enough)

The Australian War Memorial is a profound tribute to the sacrifices of Australian servicemen and women. Located in Canberra, it effectively combines a museum with a memorial, showcasing an extensive collection of artifacts and personal stories that illuminate Australia’s military history from World War I to the present. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, offering visitors a deep, emotional connection to the experiences of those who served. The architecture itself is impressive, creating a solemn yet reflective atmosphere. Events like ANZAC Day draw large crowds, reinforcing its importance as a place of remembrance. Additionally, the memorial’s commitment to research and education enhances its role in fostering understanding of Australia’s wartime experiences. Overall, the Australian War Memorial is a must-visit for anyone seeking to honor and comprehend the impact of war on Australian society.

Simply a must visit, amazing collection of war memorabilia and stories. Some stories will break your heart, plenty of additional works going on to make it even bigger. You will need all day, take a break at Poppy's for a feed and drink. And return for the last post ceremony at 4:30pm.

The Australian War Memorial is a tribute lace everyone should visit. It is sobering to think that every name on the Roll of Honour is a life lost a countless families changed forever. I attended the last post ceremony at 4:30pm and it was such a powerful moment.

Amazingly beautiful work, you can’t go in and not be in tears but well that’s what war does to us anyway. Highly recommend it. I went in with my teenage boys and they were so deeply touched by the whole experience. Can’t recommend it enough for the whole family
