Reviews for Australian War Memorial

Very engaging, moving and informative. Very well set up. It's huge and full of many different interesting things to see and do. Raced through 2 levels of 3 with 2 kids in only 1 hour because of time constraints. We missed a lot but it was still very engaging. Easy to spend 3+, 5+ hours there or do it over 2 days. Highly recommend. Google Maps look up the 'Australian War Memorial carpark' to find parking, or park on the road that goes around the back.

We were totally amazed by the size and details of the museum. From the outside, it looks big, but when you step inside.....Wow! The care, attention to detail, storytelling, quality of the displays, and the knowledgeable, friendly staff make this a must-see. The remembrance gardens are huge, with lots of different memorials, not only regiments but animals, wars, and countries. They're building, but there's still plenty of parking. There's also a cafe, lots of toilets, and a gift shop with some really cool and different things.

A very impressive site that commemorates and honours the bravery and sacrifice of Australian defenders and fallen. The Memorial's galleries and exhibitions explore Australia's involvement in major conflicts and help to tell Australia’s continuing story of service, sacrifice, and military history. Entry is free, and tickets are not required. We visited on a week day and joined an 80-minute (free) tour by an ex military veteran. The tour was of the highest quality in both content and presentation and had covered only the tip of what's on offer. We wished we had another week to explore the galleries and exhibits. Highly recommended.

We spent 6 hours at the War Memorial. Highly recommend doing the free guided tour from a volunteer and then spend time revisiting the museum. So much history. Free admission.

Really good history, remembrance, and reverence at the War Memorial. The staff are lovely and there are lots of new developments in the works. I love the new statues outside.
