Reviews for Australian War Memorial
Devorah Veiner
A very impressive site that commemorates and honours the bravery and sacrifice of Australian defenders and fallen. The Memorial's galleries and exhibitions explore Australia's involvement in major conflicts and help to tell Australia’s continuing story of service, sacrifice, and military history. Entry is free, and tickets are not required. We visited on a week day and joined an 80-minute (free) tour by an ex military veteran. The tour was of the highest quality in both content and presentation and had covered only the tip of what's on offer. We wished we had another week to explore the galleries and exhibits. Highly recommended.

We spent 6 hours at the War Memorial. Highly recommend doing the free guided tour from a volunteer and then spend time revisiting the museum. So much history. Free admission.

Moving experience. Spend two hours going through the museum, unknown soldier and walked past the 103,000 names of Australian men and women lost serving for Australia. Came back later for the last post service that was special and respectful

First time I’ve been here , great displays helpful staff , thank you to the young lady that helped me find my great grandfather on the wall . We stayed for the last post which is very moving and highly recommended. I booked tickets in advance online for entry and the post just in case . That may change in the future and you might not have to do that but best to check before you go .

OMG this is a sacred place. We spent over 4 hours here. A beautiful sombre place to pay respects and reflect on our nation's sacrifices. You must stay for the Last Post ceremony in the afternoon. We will be back when renovations are complete.
