I had a lovely stay here. I chose this hotel because of the central location, which is unbeatable. I didn't have a rental car and wasn't driving, so I took advantage of the e-scooters. I found it only took me about 15 or so minutes to get to the CBD through this mode of transport. The hotel is also quite close to the shops and the eateries in Kingston and Griffith. Even closer to the National Library and Gallery. The staff were very friendly and professional, and the place even smells amazing as you walk in. It just looks nice, and it was cool inside on a hot day. I highly recommend paying for morning breakfast as it was very good with some healthy options. The coffee is some of the best I've ever had in a hotel. I had dinner a couple of nights here and it was very good. The courtyard is very pleasant for a quiet drink after a busy day. As a solo traveller, I felt no discomfort spending time in that area. The bed was firm, but I slept fine. The shower was fabulous. The room was very quiet where I was. Well, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when next in Canberra.

Rooms are spacey. Bed is harder than is comfortable for me (medium-firm). You will hear creaking from other guests walking around, but that comes with being a wooden building. Has a beautiful courtyard to sit in and enjoy an afternoon drink and read. All the staff are amazing and friendly, however the restaurant is understaffed (at least when I visited). It took over an hour for our breakfast to be brought out one day, and over 40m the next. I don't blame the staff, as they're clearly doing their best. Location is amazing. Has outside food options and a small grocer nearby, and just a little back from parliament house.

For reference we stayed in Room 124. Room was reasonable size, bathroom beautiful, I would say recently renovated. Staff were fantastic. Restaurant breakfast was great. But, back to the room. Problems. Pillows too soft. Sheets were very stiff and made a noise like crinkling paper. And AC blew directly at your face (in bed)

We had a generally enjoyable stay at the Hotel Kurrajong, with its convenient location as a major highlight. The neighbourhood made for easy, free street parking over the weekend, which was a bonus. The building itself is charming, and there’s a nice mix of historical ambiance and modern amenities. However, we had a few hiccups that detracted from our overall experience. The chrome cast in our room didn’t work, which was frustrating, as we had hoped to watch a movie one night but couldn’t resolve the issue. We also noticed inconsistency with the towels—on the first night, we had large, plush towels, but these were replaced with smaller ones later, which was a bit disappointing. The bed, while adequate, was slightly firmer than we’d have preferred, and the pillows could do with an upgrade. With a few improvements in these areas, the stay would have been close to perfect. Overall, though, it’s a solid choice for a weekend stay in Canberra with great access to the city’s highlights.

Liked: Friendly staff, charming heritage vibe, larger than typical standard room, nice cold fridge, big bathroom, well maintained room and public areas, excellent quality TV. Disliked: Smaller cushions on the room tub chairs would be better as the ones used are way too big. More serious however is the relatively recent change to a new car parks gate control system that came with expanded parking capacity from one to two car parks, something that was desperately needed. The new car parks access control is best described as ineptly implemented, with thoughtless positioning of card readers making it almost impossible to open the gates without getting out of your car, and poorly implemented sensors for boom gate raising when exiting, so that once again, exiting the car to use the car reader or contact reception to get the boom gate raised was needed. Rectify the car park access control system so the $18 per day fee to use it is then justifiable!
