Before now I have only ever used Google reviews to leave positive comments. Balgownie Hotel has stirred something in me that before tonight lay dormant. I am leaving a bad review. You may be asking “what could have possibly rattled this man so much that he has had to change his personal Google review policy?”. I’ll begin with the first problem: The wait. At a pub, I have never expected to wait longer than 20 minutes for my food. Balgownie Hotel had me wait 53 minutes. I never in my life thought I’d have to endure such hardship. The worst part of it was having to see patrons who had ordered after us, belonging to large groups, receive their food before us. The envy I had felt is indescribable. Onto the second problem: The food. I’m not even going to bother going into detail with this issue, as I’m sure you’re wise enough to piece it together, and frankly I have lost enough of my time to Balgownie already. As a final note, I feel it is necessary to make it clear that I do not cast sole blame upon the waiting service nor the kitchen staff. I am certain that both the wait and the food were the way they were due to illogical constraints put upon the staff and the quality of the produce which the kitchen has been provided. This is no doubt the responsibility of senseless management. Amazing support service with my recent party upstairs. The food and meals were amazing and more than expected. The bar staff were great and positive with our guests. The upstair bathrooms could do with an update, but the venue was beautiful and everything was so easy when dealing with them. I would highly suggest your next party be held here in this beautiful venue.

The Australian Sonographers Association (ASA) held an Ultrasound Trivia Night in the Pubs function room. The whole booking process was made easy with the very patient Jessica. Nothing was too much trouble, and our requests weren't straight forward, but nothing was too much trouble. On the night, the food and service were perfect! Would definitely recommend.

The staff were amazing for my recent function- completely helpful and flexible with any changes. the food was just what we ordered and there was enough for everyone. The setting was ideal. We were so pleased with the service provided and all the accomodations provide- would recommend to anyone looking for a function venue.
