The rooms are super quirky in that they are very basic / heritage buildings and that is great (beds are good) but the carpets could do with being changed , they are old and they smell, there are no drawers to put stuff in which I am perplexed about as rooms have the space for them. Kettle and fridges / etc are shabby and a bit grim - need an upgrade. Staff are nice. Location is just showstopping, we love it and will continue to come back for it.

A lot of mod cons have been introduced in the past 150 years, but unfortunately many are yet to reach Q Station. Unless you are after an authentically rustic experience, I wouldn’t recommend it. At least not in summer. After several warm days in Sydney, my basic but clean room became a hot box in which it was barely possible to sleep, let alone spend any time in. There was no way to cool it down. With no air con and no windows the only options were a barely-working overhead fan and leaving the door wide open. I asked at reception to move to a cooler room but they were fully booked. They did bring me a pedestal fan, but due to the position of the only power point it wasn’t much use either. Most guests seemed to be in the same boat. Walking along the verandahs you’d see people lying half dressed on top of their beds, with doors wide open trying to get air in. It was strange experience to have at an Accor property in 2026. The staff explained that due to the heritage listing, there’s no way to install air con. But there is more they could do. Just for starters a properly working overhead fan. Surely they could also supply portable air con units during heatwaves or look at ways people could air their rooms safely without having to leave them wide open to mozzies, wildlife and opportunistic thieves. This hotel would not be safe for elderly people during a heatwave. While I’m sure the conditions are an improvement on 1832, there’s still a way to go Accor.

What a fascinating place. Staying in the Isolation Precinct felt like walking into a documentary. We arrived just on dusk, which made the atmosphere even more striking. Great views, strong sense of history, and plenty of character throughout the site. It’s not a luxury resort, and it doesn’t try to be—that’s part of the appeal. Signage could be clearer in places, and there is a fair amount of walking involved, but the setting and historical significance more than make up for it. A great base to explore North Head and Manly. Thoroughly recommend taking as many tours as possible; they really bring the history of Q Station to life. The food at Boiler house was a great addition

Absolutely lovely little hidden gem in Sydney. Right in heart of the harbour with gorgeous heritage buildings and spectacular views. The rooms are still try to the heritage but comfortable with everything you could need, fan, heater, fridge, tea and coffee. Lots of wild life on site too! Had a great stay and walking tour. Will definitely stay again

What a great place for a weekend stay. We stayed in a cottage that sleeps 6. Stepping back in time, well appointed and positioned to explore this beautiful place. History. Water. Ghosts. Food. Great shuttle service and time to explore or relax. Highly recommend.

Dr. Salter Room is an understated, quietly sophisticated function space that comfortably fits up to 12 guests seated for a presentation or meeting, with stunning harbor views. This room can be booked privately.
Former Ladies Sewing Room
The Former Ladies Sewing Room offers beautiful views of Sydney harbor and beyond from its a private balcony. The large windows provide plenty of natural light. Suitable for presentations, cocktail parties, or a breakout space for a larger conference.
The Former Men's Smoking Room
The Former Men's Smoking Room is a gorgeous setting for a function, within a space that's immediately identifiable as the historic kind. Large windows and a balcony looking out onto the green and blue of trees and the harbor. Inside, the space is understated, while also exuding a definite old-world charm. There's room for 40 seated or 65 standing and is suitable for conferencing, dinners, and cocktail parties.
Dr Cumpston Room
The Dr. Cumpston Room enjoys stunning views of Sydney harbor from its outdoor deck. Inside, the room has been recently renovated and features plenty of natural light. Ideal as a plenary conference space, many smaller breakout rooms are in close proximity, as well as the main accommodation area.
Nurse Ford Room & Nurse Egan Room
The two function rooms are located in the Hospital Precinct and are perfect for a conference group or lunch event. Space includes plenty of natural light and outdoor access, complemented with stunning harbour views. The lawn area is an outstanding location for a wedding ceremony with multiple reception spaces available on the property.
Private Dining Room
Originally the Quarantine Station's staff dining room built in the early 1900s, this lovely building features a stunning long veranda and pre-function room with views over the bushland with water glimpses. Space includes an anteroom perfect for pre-lunch or pre-dinner drinks or casual breakout space. Enjoy the serene bushland setting.
Governor Bourke Ballroom
The heritage-listed Governor Bourke Ballroom is Q Station's largest function room. It has water glimpses of Sydney Harbour and is flooded with natural light from the many original window fixtures around the room. Beautiful dark timber floors and a grand tall 4.5m ceiling make this space an amazing space for conferencing, private dinners, cocktail parties, and weddings.

The Boilerhouse Restaurant and Bar is located right beside Quarantine Beach and serves modern Australian cuisine. It includes indoor and outdoor dining to make the best use of the stunning location.
