The view from the room was great, and we had a lovely large balcony to watch all the marina activities from. Very well located, quiet and a lovely pool area. Lots of good restaurants and cafes in the area and a great place to base yourself out of. Staff were great overall. The check in staff was courteous but did not provide any useful information, with the result that we didn't know the lounge dining option was open to us. The foyer was beautiful. The room, while large was not the level of luxury we expected from Shangri-La. It looked like everything was ripe for some maintenance, especially the pool area which had an open drain, loose floor tiles, etc.

From start to finish, the service at this hotel was truly excellent. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and attentive, which made our stay feel special. The restaurant was great. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great variety that were clearly made with quality ingredients. The entire hotel was spotless and well-organized. A calm and welcoming atmosphere. The view from our room was simply beautiful. A perfect relaxing getaway. This was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. Highly recommended!

Fantastic hotel, great location. All staff were friendly & welcoming. Rooms were spacious & clean. Daily cleaning & change of towels was fabulous. Breakfast buffet was so good & great value. Marina veiw was beautiful. We loved our stay & will be back.

Stayed 5 days with family and we were very happy with the staff, service and attention to detail. Could do with some modernisation to some of the communal areas (looks to be started with the main restaurant undergoing renovations during our stay) but rooms are a good size, well appointed and very comfortable. Toiletries supplied were good quality plus there are robes and slippers supplied. Breakfast was delicious, bountiful and had a good range that varied day to day. The made to order omelettes are scrumptious. The pools are a good size, plenty of comfortable seating provided and in close proximity to the bar. The steak sandwiche from the pool bar menu was very good. Location is great with views of the harbour and esplanade and walking distance to the Lagoon, Trinity Wharf, Cairns Central, Marina, Cruise Terminal, Jet Boats, Aquarium, Cairns Koala's and Creatures as well as the numerous dining options on offer at Trinity Wharf, The Esplanade or in town and of course the night markets.

Ok so first off, it’s true this hotel isn’t the same quality as other shangri-la hotels. It’s a more of a 4 star experience. The finishings are tired, furniture old, the lobby (not pictured) looks cheap with terrible lighting. BUT the pool is lovely, the staff kind, friendly and efficient, and the beds super comfortable. I loved the breakfast room too (food was fine). My hotel room had a nice view of the marina and I also enjoyed that there wasn’t carpet so it never felt stuffy. Location is perfect, it’s an easy stroll to all the waterfront restaurants and shops. There’s also plenty of info and assistance for booking day trips and experiences. Overall i enjoyed the relaxed vibe and will be back
