Reviews for Rydges Fortitude Valley

Hotel was quite nice and the buffet was fun. However in an emergency situation there is a lack of empathy and dirt of care from the hotel. My daughter 2.5yr fell off the bed in the hotel (not the hotels fault) and had a concussion. I rang reception for help no answer while waiting on hold to a doc on my phone. Ended up running downstairs to speak to reception as I was due to leave the hotel that day. Told the staff I had an emergency situation and there was 0 help/compassion/empathy offered. All I got was they could hold the room until 1pm otherwise I'd be charged another night. 0 offers of assistance of taxi/ambulance NO HELP whatsoever. When I said I just need to get her to a hospital they pointed in the (wrong/long) direction of the hospital and said they couldn't touch the (packed) bags in my room as it was against the policy. Luckily, she had a mild concussion and didn't need to stay over night in hospital, luckily I ran into a radiologist heading to his shift at the hospital and luckily the hospital was great AND I made it back to grab my bags before 1pm... Otherwise seriously teach your staff some compassion Also the TV system didn't work for casting as they had recently upgraded the system and none of the staff knew about it. Which sucks when you're travelling with two small kids.

I believe this hotel could benefit from a thorough review. While the overall cleanliness is decent, I would advise against looking under the beds or using the room phones, as they are covered in a year's worth of dust and dirt. Furthermore, the TV casting function was not operational, and the television cut out approximately every ten minutes. I spent nearly two hours at the reception regarding a piece of clothing I had forgotten in the closet. I initially informed the staff at 10 AM, and they promised to call me back. After calling again at 12 PM, I received the same assurance. I returned to the reception at 5:30 PM to remind them about my clothing, but they were still unable to assist me. While the staff is friendly, the level of service is disappointing. I typically do not leave reviews, but my experience with what may seem like a simple issue—a forgotten piece of clothing—has compelled me to share my thoughts, especially considering the price tag attached to the missing piece of clothing.

I have yet to check in at this hotel for the first time so I had no idea what the parking will ve like. I called today and spoke with Catherine from reception. I asked about the parking and she was not friendly at all! As a first time customer who will be staying at this place did not leave me a good impression. I had been working in Customer Service for a long time and i think this is not the way to answer customer especially on the phone. Catherine from reception answered my question with sass and it seems she was annoyed. I told her thanks for the reply and she is not friendly at all. This should not be the case espeically if you work at reception!

Every time I stay somewhere, I always request, on checkout, to receive an email with my tax receipt. Without fail, the smiling reception attendant confirms my email address and assures me that my tax receipt is on its way. I am an executive business traveller and stay in hotels around the price point of Rydges more frequently than I care to think about. I don't ask for much usually and mostly I check out early leaving barely a mark on the rooms I have occupied. A model guest you could say. Unfortunately, the tax receipt is a normal and necessary feature of any business transaction in Australia. This is unfortunate because hotels do not see this as a standard feature of their business with guests. Emails with offers? Yes. Text messages with various 'important' updates prior to a routine stay? Of course! An email with a tax receipt? Almost never, and often not even after requesting one and being assured of the prompt response to my request. There is little in my relationship with hotels that annoys me more than needing my PA to chase up a receipt. She knows to add these establishments to a 'blacklist' for my company, due to poor customer relationship management. I stayed on Thurs 14th, and paid around $240 for my room for 1 night. Room 416. Next time, another address.

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Rooms are very clean, modern, and the beds are extremely comfy. We ordered room service and had the beef burger which was absolutely delicious. Great location too. Would highly recommend staying here.
