The hotel was decent; however the carpets really need a proper vacuum and clean. They’re filthy. The coffee machine didn’t work properly either (and I have the same model at home so I do know how to use it). Still waiting for the hotel to release the card hold fees and have emailed them with no response. It’s been over 2 weeks since I checked out. Would appreciate getting it released. No other hotel has ever taken this long to do so.

Overall the hotel and location was great, unfortunately it wasn't until a few days later when my bank balance was in arrears that I wouldn't recommend staying with this establishment. I was double charged for the stay and when I rang the hotel they sent me through a invoice in which I noticed there was a charge for a item in the mini bar that I didn't consume , I was told there's nothing they could do on their end I will have to take it up with my financial institution. After contacting my financial institution I was informed that the funds are waiting to be released for one of the transaction and to take it up with the hotel , after calling them back they said they will try and sort it without any apology. Meanwhile I've been charged arrears fees from my bank as I had direct debts coming out of that account . Never have I had such poor service from a hotel . Would not recommend staying there and if you do ,ask for a invoice as you never know what you are being charged for upon checkout .

Hotel was quite nice and the buffet was fun. However in an emergency situation there is a lack of empathy and dirt of care from the hotel. My daughter 2.5yr fell off the bed in the hotel (not the hotels fault) and had a concussion. I rang reception for help no answer while waiting on hold to a doc on my phone. Ended up running downstairs to speak to reception as I was due to leave the hotel that day. Told the staff I had an emergency situation and there was 0 help/compassion/empathy offered. All I got was they could hold the room until 1pm otherwise I'd be charged another night. 0 offers of assistance of taxi/ambulance NO HELP whatsoever. When I said I just need to get her to a hospital they pointed in the (wrong/long) direction of the hospital and said they couldn't touch the (packed) bags in my room as it was against the policy. Luckily, she had a mild concussion and didn't need to stay over night in hospital, luckily I ran into a radiologist heading to his shift at the hospital and luckily the hospital was great AND I made it back to grab my bags before 1pm... Otherwise seriously teach your staff some compassion Also the TV system didn't work for casting as they had recently upgraded the system and none of the staff knew about it. Which sucks when you're travelling with two small kids.

Rydges Brisbane: A $600 Night Joke If you’re thinking of staying at Rydges Brisbane, prepare yourself for the most overpriced, underwhelming, and downright depressing excuse for a hotel you’ll ever encounter. But let’s be honest, you probably don’t have a choice. Because in this cringe worthy league of accommodation, it’s not about finding a good option, just the least offensive rip off. Let’s start with the rooms. Tiny, outdated and reeking of old carpet and stale air. For 600 dollars a night, you’d expect something even remotely modern or comfortable, but no, this is smelly shoebox luxury at its absolute worst. The furniture looks like it was salvaged from a second hand store and the bathroom feels like a badly maintained public restroom. The pool If you were hoping for a refreshing swim, think again. It’s barely bigger than a bathtub, awkwardly shoved into some permanently shaded corner, rendering it as inviting as a kiddie splash pad in winter. The bar because surely a stiff drink would be necessary in a place like this closes early, just to really drive home how little they care about your experience. No late night drinks, no hospitality, just a strict curfew as if guests are schoolchildren. And speaking of rules the staff will make sure you know them all. Every interaction feels like an airport security briefing minus the efficiency. Instead of offering actual service, they seem to exist solely to police guests into submission. But here’s the real kicker this isn’t even a one off case. Brisbane’s so called hotel scene is one giant overpriced joke and Rydges is just another example of how Australia continues to charge top dollar for bottom tier service. Truly world class cities offer value, experience and hospitality. Brisbane offers this.
