I will never ever stay at Novotel again. The reception was always understaffed. Our first night, the light in the bathroom basin didn’t work. We then booked a second night in a different room and requested ocean view. When we went in the morning to check on our room, we were informed that reservations had not booked it and now the hotel was fully booked and therefore no room for us. Despite the fact we had received a booking confirmation email. We were then placed in a room for a cheaper rate and told we could not access the balcony due to maintenance. we took this room as we had no where else to stay. We then had to inform the staff that there was a leak in the bathroom shower and no sound on the TV. we wont be staying here again. its definitely worth paying a little extra for a decent hotel with efficient staff.

My partner and I stayed for the very first time last year with no issues. It was very pleasant. This time around, it took nearly 30 minutes plus, to check in, I had already paid for the booking and I did not have my physical card and they required a security "bond" which was not mentioned anywhere in the booking and is "new". Due to not having my physical card and not being able to give the full numbers (I wasn't allowed to use my partners card) as it had to be the card associated to the booking it was made under. She spoke to the manager and had said I could do a $200 cash deposit as opposed to the regular $100 fee they hold with your card. (Makes sense?). After that, I had to pay for parking which was super expensive for the three days. It's a pity they don't get a special rate, especially since the parking is terrible and you can barely get a space extremely dangerous for families with young kids. I tried to pay for parking using my phone (tap) it can't be done because their "new system" only allows cards withheld on the system or physical cards. So I had to use my partners cars for that. The whole system is a joke. Not many people carry cards these days. When getting into our room we had no bin bags supplied. I had to use my own bin bag and the next day when we asked for housekeeping they took our rubbish OUT of the bag and left me with my original now dirty bin bag. Didn't resupply us with any extra or fresh bin bags. I also made note of requesting a cot months in advance for our stay and the cot was nowhere to be seen, I also clarified this with the receptionist that it would be there and she said if I had made note of it, it should be there. I ended up having to call triage to bring one up. The spa no longer has water jets as they are all concreted in. So now it is just a warm bath. Upon check out, they were trying to say my parking was overdue and regos did not match. Was soon rectified and waited 10-15 minutes to check out as it was cash to get my "bond back". And they needed someone to site the room. Will not stay here again. Absolutely appalling and terrible customer service.

Solid hotel stay at Surfer's Paradise. Stunning views. Close to the beach, exhibits, restaurants. With supermarkets, Timezone arcade, Ripley's "Believe it or Not" exhibit, and the Slingshot ride all a short walk from ground floor. Pool and gym available. Clean and decently spacious rooms. Parking available on request. 🅿️ Or you can travel via the rapid tram system, with stations right outside.🚈🛤️ ⛱️🏖️🏢🏊

The booking stated we would be in a Deluxe Room that is “newly refurbished”. The room had pealing paint and chipped tiles in the bathroom. This room did not seem to be newly refurbished. On the Novotel website it stated “ Any rooms and facilities near renovation zones will be taken out of service temporarily to ensure a peaceful and quiet stay.” However outside our room was the painting rig tied to our balcony. It was filthy, covered in cigarette butts. We complained to the assistant manager and asked for an alternative room but all that could be offered were rooms with not enough beds or the penthouse if we were willing to pay. It did not appear that any rooms had been taken out of service and this had a significant impact on our stay. The lifting in the building is completely inadequate even though all lifts appeared to be working. During morning and afternoon peak we would typically have to wait for 10-15 minutes for a lift and heard other guests complaining that they had to wait for 40 minutes. In the morning we were only able to get Luke warm water out of the shower even when put it on full hot. Even when I got up at 5:15am on the last day i could only get Luke warm water. Buffet was average, pasties always seemed to be slightly soggy, coffee was terrible and scrambled eggs tasted like they had been bulked up with flour. I would not stay at Novotel again in surfers paradise or anywhere else.

Things we liked: 1. location - easy walk to shops and beach 2. View - ocean view from balcony 3. Comfy bed 4. Good pillows 5. Nice bathroom 6. Included minibar 7. Pool was nice Things that could be improved: Check in - the line was longer than we would hope for. We only stayed one night but I would come back here for a longer stay. Exceeded my expectations!
