We held our end of year staff Christmas function at the Matthew Flinders in their function room and could not have been happier with the afternoon. The feedback from staff has also been 100% positive. Lauren was awesome in organising the event for us. We had an We had a buffet style Setup For the food with a for the food with a bar tab for drinks and the whole afternoon went off without any issues at all. We will definitely be booking for 2025 early to ensure we get our date.

Always popular. Decent menu. Very reasonable prices. Order from table via qr-code or at the counter. Meals delivered to table. Used to have to collect at the counter in the old days. Great kids play area.

We recently visited the Matthew Flinders Hotel and were surprised by how quiet the place was. The atmosphere felt almost eerie, with little to no activity despite it being lunch time. We ordered our drinks through the app, expecting them to arrive promptly. However, after a long wait, nothing came. We eventually went to the bar to inquire, only to find our drinks sitting there, waiting to be delivered. It made us wonder if the lack of service was because we didn’t leave a tip on the app. Is tipping even a thing in Australia? As far as we know, it’s not a common expectation, so the experience felt odd. Overall, the service was disappointing, and it seemed like the staff were disengaged. While the venue itself is decent, the lack of attention to customers really left us underwhelmed. The image shows how busy it wasn’t.

Comfortable and clean unit. Shower has a nice modern overhead rain-shower style outlet. Regular servicing and friendly staff. Nice range of menu in the bistro, and they can provide a very hot sauce on request. Overall very good value.

We liked the way the hotel is run. Friendly and helpful staff and a family-friendly feel. As seniors we were made welcome in both the accommodation and dining room (good menu options, generous serves). Senior staff very competent and friendly. Some junior bar staff still learning the ropes. Our room-service staff member went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable for our week long stay - thank you!
