I was at the Birmingham hotel after reading an article in the Good Food guide that it has one of the best parmigianas in Melbourne. I went on Tuesday when there was a special. The parmigiana costs $18. It tasted pretty average. It wasn't crispy at all. The cheese is quite bland but has the soft texture. The chicken was thick, which is a redeeming feature. The fries were mostly crispy, and the salad dressing was good. Overall, it's average and wouldn't travel from far to dine at this venue.

If you want a good deal for steak or Parma on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. Try this place. My wife and I come here not just because it's good, but also it's dog friendly in the back. Undercover as well so when it's raining, never wet. Tastes great, good value in this day and age. Tables can be a little sticky but that's just the quality of the tables + cleaner. No biggie, it's nationwide.

Interesting story we have at the Birmingham Hotel - we arrived at probably their busiest time and ordered our meals, the bar staff told us that there was a 20min wait in the kitchen; we were thrilled as we had a friends gig to attend. I had ordered an entree, though my other friends did not. My entree came out in 20 mins but everything else was delayed drastically. We had to leave by 820 today to get to the gig we were watching and we ordered at 720. The manager - - was actually really easy to approach and communicate with. Their management was impeccable. We were able to come back after the gig and eat our meal with a drink on the house. Now, if that is not customer service - I don’t know what is. This manager and team knows how to look after their customers. Super impressed - thank you for allowing our night go smoothly.

Terrific pub, great prices, great food (best parmas in the area), local beer specials ($8 pint of the month for great Collingwood craft beer), TVs everywhere showing sport. Great indoor area, great beer garden (x2), great dining area, staff are great, just a straight up gre... nay, legendary, Fitzroy/Collingwood pub.
