Reviews for Novotel Melbourne on Collins

Wow incredible stay as a platinum explorer plus member at this ideally located Accor establishment in Melbourne on the famous Collins Street. Everything was great from the facilities to rooms to dining and breakfast especially as we were celebrating a special occasion. Let me address the lift situation that so many have commented on. The management are moving mountains to get the new lifts in and operational as quickly as is humanly possible. I stayed Sunday and Monday and had absolutely no delays at all either downstairs or from reception to the rooms. I do believe there are some small delays during peak periods but I never experienced it and I was in and out of the hotel a lot. Accor loyalty members benefits fully applied with a fantastic breakfast spread and great cocktails and dinner options. Great gym and pool area spa under maintenance but no big deal. Represents great value at the right price with a huge “watch this space” with some serious upgrades coming from what I hear of the grapevine. Great location with access to free cbd trams which will take you all over the city. No review would be complete without a famous mrmakemystay shout out to the amazing front and back office champions including Cristelle(FOM), Ema, Merina, Jessica, Udara, Lee and concierge angels including Joseph, Sal, Elizabeth, Laura, Julian, Daniel and in F&B Makoto and Mr Steven, chef Buddhisha and manager Perera. All the staff were incredibly friendly, professional and welcoming. Novotel on Collins has absolutely made my stay! High recommendation from me a seasoned traveller. Ps Dining was excellent, especially if you are an Accor plus explorer member with dining benefits accepted. We had cocktails, entrees and mains everything was cooked beautifully and tasted great.

I had an amazing 5-day stay at Novotel Melbourne on Collins! The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of Melbourne CBD, with easy access to shopping, restaurants, cafés, public transport, and many of the city’s top attractions. One of the highlights of our trip was being able to enjoy peaceful early morning jogs. The hotel is conveniently located near Princes Bridge, Treasury Gardens, and Fitzroy Gardens, making it easy to start the day surrounded by beautiful scenery and fresh morning air. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a great place to relax after a full day of exploring. The staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. Thank you to the entire team at Novotel Melbourne on Collins for your excellent hospitality. I am truly enjoyed our stay and would gladly return on our next visit.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I have had in many years of travel. The hotel facilities are outdated, and the biggest issue is the elevators. Out of three elevators, only one was operating during my stay. I was staying on the 8th floor, and between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. I waited more than 30 minutes just to get an elevator. Hundreds of guests were crowded around the elevator lobby because a single elevator simply could not handle the number of people. It was chaotic, frustrating, and completely unacceptable for a hotel of this size. What concerns me even more is the safety aspect. I cannot imagine how serious the consequences would be if there were a fire or any other emergency requiring a rapid evacuation. I personally witnessed several guests complaining about this issue at the front desk. The staff acknowledged that this had been an ongoing problem for quite some time, yet no effective solution appeared to have been implemented. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. Until the elevator issue is properly resolved, I cannot recommend staying at this hotel.

Novotel Melbourne on Collins is in an unbeatable location right in the heart of the CBD, which makes it incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, and getting around the city. You really can’t fault where it’s situated—it’s perfect for anyone wanting to be in the middle of everything. The staff were a definite highlight of the stay. They were friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist with any questions or requests, which made the overall experience much more pleasant. Their service really stood out and added a positive touch to the visit. However, the rooms themselves are quite dated and fairly basic. There’s nothing particularly special about them—just the essentials like a bed and standard facilities. It would have been nice to have a few extra amenities such as toothbrushes or other small touches that many hotels now provide. One of the main downsides was the lift situation. During our stay, only one lift was working, which meant long wait times, especially during busy periods. It seems this is a common issue, as there are quite a few reviews mentioning the same problem. Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay mainly due to the location and great staff, but the facilities could definitely use an upgrade.

The hotel’s location and price were excellent, making it a great base for exploring the city. However, there were several disappointing aspects of our stay. The lift system was extremely frustrating. We had to use two different lifts and wait in queues for 5–10 minutes, depending on the time of day. The lift door sensors also didn’t work properly, with the doors repeatedly closing on guests. The breakfast was another letdown. There were no halal meat options. I asked reception if an alternative could be arranged, but no one ever got back to me. The room itself was clean, but the housekeeping service could be improved. They mainly just made the beds and emptied the bins leaving shoe dirt and other particles left on the floor. These are small things can be easily fixed and improve the experience
