Review of Cliftons Event Venue – Disappointing Experience During Databricks Event I attended a Databricks event at Cliftons on 8 October 2024, and I’m writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the experience. During the scheduled morning tea, our group encountered an incredibly unpleasant situation due to the behaviour of Cliftons staff. Another event was apparently running concurrently and required silence, but this is no excuse for staff to attempt to shush people in the catering area during morning tea time. The purpose of morning tea is to connect with others, and I was in conversation with new contacts when I was rudely interrupted. What made the situation even worse was the fact that the staff were yelling at us to be quiet, which was both offensive and inappropriate. This clearly signalled a lack of coordination and planning on Cliftons’ part. While there’s a small chance that those who attempted to silence us were not staff but attendees from the other event, I strongly believe it was Cliftons staff based on the way the situation played out. Regardless, the responsibility to manage multiple events and prevent conflict lies with the venue. If a client requires complete silence, they should be advised to book the entire space. Otherwise, such behaviour is unacceptable, especially when we were all being courteous. Some noise is expected and natural in a networking setting! At the end of the day, why do they think people attend face-to-face IT training in this era of remote work being the norm? It’s not because remote isn’t available—it’s for the networking opportunities! I expect Cliftons to investigate this incident and issue a formal apology. The experience was entirely unsatisfactory and reflects poorly on the venue’s ability to host concurrent events professionally.

They say they cater to dietary requirements, but they lump together gluten free, dairy free, vego and vegans all in one, so that if you’re coeliac you end up eating only gross vegan food (eg. Inedibly dried up gf sandwiches with margarine and capsicum). As if we don’t have enough restrictions already you have to remove dairy eggs and meat from us too. It’s lazy catering. Not even airplane food lumps together dietary requirements in one group anymore, I reckon Clifton’s can do better given how many people have dietary requirements these days. I had to BYO food for the two day training I attended here. As a previous review said, we were also hushed when talking in one of the public breakout spaces with couches because a public hearing was taking place in one of the rooms which required them to leave the door open. Shouldn’t be able to hire a room in a conference centre if you need absolute silence within a 50m radius

We were here for our kid's ICAS exam and a guy from Cliftons was being rude to the parents who were present with their kids. I also highlighted this to the exam coordinators, they promised to pass my feedback to Cliftons.

Don’t take this place for CPA. That’s my advice to you if you are looking for an exam center with low noice, more desk space peace.

Had a fantastic day at Cliftons. The staff were all lovely and calm. The kitchen staff were also very good. It was great to come in to do our three day course and know that everything was being taken care of.
