Reviews for The Mint Melbourne

Went out with a friend who hadn’t been to Melbourne before. We all wanted to try experience something new and decided to check out “The Mint” suffice to say I was incredibly disappointed and embarrassed. First came the drinks. My roommate ordered a cosmopolitan “nothing to write home about” was her review. My friend ordered a pint which was fine and I had an espresso martini which tasted burnt and was undrinkable. Then came the food. Absolutely disgusting. My roommate had the house made gnocchi if you could call it that, more so looked like orange slime, she tried asking for some salt and was begrudgingly handed some by a rude waitress. The salt barely made a difference. My friend had the chicken Parma and the cheese was disgusting. And I had ordered the steak special which considering how low my expectations were at the point was at least edible. Definitely won’t be recommending this place again.

Visited on Wednesday for their steak special. 250g porterhouse w/ fries for 25$ was a really good value. The steak was nicely seasoned and cooked. Ordering was easy. Nice place.

Went here over the weekend 2 pm. We don’t know they don’t serve food til 4 pm. We brought our dog with us, sat outside. Staff was friendly and helpful. Seating well spaced so plenty of room and lots of privacy. Plenty of shade outside and cool. Dog bowls for thirsty furbabies. We just had spicy peanut and olives and drinks. We left to go to another place for a meal. Bit noisy from traffic, wheelchair and pram friendly. Very convenient from public transport with Flagstaff station just outside. There’s paid parking nearby along Lt Lonsdale and Latrobe St.

On a warm March night, looking for a salad, a place to eat outside that wasn't fancy and maybe a glass or two of Australian sauv Blanc. Check, check and check. It's a bit noisy with an after work crowd but easy to get a table even at 7:30 on a Friday.

The atmosphere draws people in. Between the outdoor entertainment area, the live music and the beautiful decor; it's a great environment for a post work feed or a low-key dinner. The food unfortunately leaves something to be desired; meals were tasty although lacked quantity or depth for the price, including additional charges for sauce for chips or lacking substance to meals. The service was average and nothing to be highlighted unfortunately; waiting for service at bars, collection from tables ECT. Would come again for the atmosphere for a drink, but room for improvement for the food.
