Gallery IV at The Olsen

Gallery IV - is especially noteworthy, a space drenched in sunlight and surrounded by floor to ceiling glass walls (and amazing views).

Great hotels anticipate guest requests. Good hotels remember guest requests. Bad hotels only fulfill guest requests. The Olsen struggles even with the last category. The service is sloppy, forgetful and slow. Different employees seem to have been given different guidebooks with different sets of rules to follow. On the upside, the location is great, the rooms nice and quiet and the breakfast very tasty, if slow.

We got a suite type room with a wall between 2 big beds so was great to share with a friend. Pool was lovely, cool looking out at the street while having a swim. Very clean with kitchenette. Overall decor was a bit tired, bit based on price it was great value and would stay again.

We were booked for 7 days but ended up in a very tiny room that smelled like old sneakers and didn't have window that would open. It was Taylor Swift weekend so everywhere was packed but Sam at reception was outstanding and somehow found us another room. This one was on the 1st floor, same room type and it had a whole loungeroom and porch! I would suggest asking for a room with a porch/window that opens when booking. **Cons: The room was tired but fine. It had more "motel" vibes than "hotel" vibes but it was clean and the bed was comfy and not saggy. Also, The kids at the school and the construction/air con are pretty noisy but the door blocks the noise out really well. We had to call and ask for everything - towels, coffee machine, a cup, a plate etc. Its like someone stole everything in the whole place. Washing machine was in a shared little room, very linty and $3 per load There's only space for one suitcase, but housekeeping have luggage racks if you ask for one. There's only one space over the toilet for your towels which is gross. There's no other hooks or places for a towel. **Pros: Super close to the train station, super market, shops and lots of great places to eat. The second room was very spacious, comfortable and clean enough. The staff are wonderful and helpful even on a very busy weekend.

A beautifully appointed room. Clean and spacious. My only gripe was the aircon only went as low as 19c - my ideal sleeping temp is 17c and below. I also found the bed a tad too soft for me. These are small details and probably won't impact on the average guest, so don't let this put you off what is a lovely hotel.

What a fantastic hotel. The rooms are so well designed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The art is beautiful and everywhere. The service was the best I have experienced. This will be where I stay when I'm in Melbourne.
