Reviews for State Library of Victoria
Flower Power
The experience in visiting the State Library in Melbourne was amazing. Ticked my bucket list. I just love it. So very well organised and very clean. Brilliant architecture! When in Melbourne, you must add this to your list.

It is the most beautiful library that I’ve been ever. It has the most amazing match between modernity and historical place. I recommend visiting the photo exposition. The music and the atmosphere is awesome. If you need to study or work in Melbourne just go there or just for visiting is incredible experience.

So relaxing, huge and breathtaking library. Their main reading room covered with full of books. Plenty of seats and electric points. Strong wifi connection, but it's a public wifi so be mindful. Full bright room to read books and study. This is a reference library so they don't allow to borrow books to home, but you can reserve and read within the library. Very respectful, quiet and friendly. Also there is a kid friendly place for family.

Such an amazing space. Was surprised to see Ned Kelly’s armour displayed. So many people reading and working in this vast space. I came for the Rennie Ellis exhibition. I loved that they had comfy seating to watch the exhibition projected on a wall. A lovely frolic through Melbourne in the 70s + eras. They even have a cafe in there and a Readings bookstore! Well worth it just for Rennie’s exhibition. Lots of tourist photographing the internal beautifully architected library.

Truly an iconic place to visit in Melbourne. Don't miss this stop. Please observe proper decorum by not talking loudly, taking photos discreetly, and not disturbing the peace in the Reading Room. Since this library is iconic, tourists sometimes tend to be loud unconsciously, disturbing those who are actually studying, working, or reading. There is an escalator that will take you to a spot where you can take a photo of the dome, the Reading Room, and appreciate the architecture of the building.
