I recently had my second stay at Oakwood Premier after a great experience earlier this year in the Executive Studio. The staff are lovely, the location is quiet and away from the busy CBD, and the hotel has great amenities. Unfortunately, our second stay was a little disappointing. We stayed in a Deluxe Studio and after checking in late, found there was no soap in the bathroom and no tissues provided. Our Deluxe Studio room was located on a lower floor (level 8) compared to the Executive Studio, and we noticed a lot more people passing by likely due to its proximity to the gym and common areas. The higher floors felt noticeably more private and secure. There was also some confusion at breakfast. We were advised that we needed to pay for the buffet despite breakfast already being included in our bookings on reservation. On our final night, we were woken at around 3–4am by a disruptive and aggressive person on our floor who was yelling and even attempted to bang on our door. We tried calling reception from both the room phone and our mobile phones, but no one answered. Thankfully the guy ended up leaving after a little while (not sure if he was a guest at the hotel). This experience also highlighted what feels like a need for better security, particularly on weekends when the hotel appears to be much busier with more people coming through. If you’re considering staying at Oakwood Premier, I’d recommend spending a little extra on an Executive Studio. We found it to be quieter, more private, and overall a much more comfortable experience. I’d also suggest staying during the week rather than on weekends, as the hotel seems significantly busier on weekends. We’re gutted that this was our experience, and we hope the hotel can make some improvements given that it is meant to be 5 star hotel!

I've stayed here a couple of time for a single night and on both occasions I've thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The rooms are spacious with beautiful bathrooms and the view of Melbourne from the upper floors is lovely. The staff were friendly and very helpful in accommodating requests. The facilities are also excellent - gym (indoor and outdoor areas with well maintained equipment, towels, lockers, water dispenser, wipes) on the upper floors, games/entertainment area, conference room, event space. Also when you walk into the lobby the fragrance is wonderful! I'd definitely stay here again.

Overall, a good stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well presented. However, to truly match other 5-star hotels, there are a few areas that need improvement. Having dedicated parking and luggage assistance would make a big difference to the overall experience. Additionally, the service could be more attentive and consistent. With a few improvements, this hotel has the potential to be excellent.

We were in a studio executive apartment which was just the perfect size. Nice big corner room with a great view. Basically half the room was a big corner window if you wanted to open the curtains. Appliances were top quality with a large fridge, good toaster and decent tv etc. Nothing cheaped out. Bathroom setup was really good and out of sight in a separate room behind the bedroom. Had a massive mirror.

The amount of time it takes to wait for the lift to arrive here really takes away from the whole experience. I've timed 8 to 10 minute waits to get to the lobby or the gym from my room. This doesnt make sense for a building with 4 lifts! Otherwise rooms are clean and nice, everything else is good. It's just the dread of taking a lift that is not ideal.
