Reviews for Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens

I’m genuinely shocked by the level of service I received during my recent stay at Courtyard by Marriott Flagstaff Gardens. As a loyal guest of Marriott properties, I expected far better, especially from a hotel carrying the Courtyard brand. Late at night, I reported a persistent and odd water-pipe-like sound coming from my room. The explanation I received from the overnight staff and manager was not only unhelpful but borderline ridiculous—I was told that the noise was due to the air conditioning unit, and that the only solution was to turn it off completely. This was presented as the only available option, with the added claim that there were no other rooms available for me to move to. This is where the situation became truly unacceptable: during check-in earlier that day, I had been presented with a choice between two different room types. That clearly indicated there were vacant rooms available, contradicting the overnight staff’s claim. To be told there were “no other options” when I knew for a fact there were unoccupied rooms in the hotel felt not only dismissive but dishonest. This kind of response—blaming the guest’s comfort issue on an air conditioning unit and refusing to take any meaningful action—is not what I expect from a hotel under the Marriott umbrella. It reflects a serious lack of training, guest care, and accountability on the part of the overnight team. I hope Marriott corporate reviews this incident seriously. If Courtyard by Marriott is to uphold its international reputation, it needs to ensure its staff provide transparent communication and genuine solutions—not excuses

Superb place to stay. We paid $120 more per night to stay at a different hotel in Melbourne and it was nothing compared to courtyard. Great location. Great staff. Rooms were superb. We even got a free room upgrade. Highly recommend.

This hotel is modern, clean and concierge is very helpful. The room I had is a good size and very comfortable. The only problem with the room is there isn't much of a mini fridge, the one I had isn't cold enough and very little space to put anything I have bought back. Location wise it is in the quiet side of the city and need a good 5-10 min walk from the Southern Cross if taking the Skybus into Melbourne. However it is still close to the Flagstaff station to catch the city loop and short walk to the Flagstaff Gardens and Queen Victoria Market, great to grab lunch at the market and enjoy it in the park like I did. I had already booked for another stay later in the year and looking forward to going back.

Room bigger than my expectation, it’s clean and comfortable. Love this hotel with very friendly staff, great location which just takes 10 minutes walk to Queen Victoria Market, many car park spaces in front of the hotel (be aware of the free time and meter is required after 7am with very reasonable price). If the water pressure and the amenities could be improved, it will be perfect.

We stayed here 4 nights and the overall experience was great. Nice clean modern rooms. Rooms were spacious. Wish they had more drawers to put clothes for long stays. Nice clean bathrooms though I would prefer locks on bathroom doors especially when we are traveling with kids. It is next to fire station though it didn’t bother as much during our 4 night stay.
