My partner and I stayed here whilst visiting family and had travelled from QLD. We made a last minute booking due to not wanting to travel to families house so late and waking up little children as our flight was delayed and arrived much later than anticipated. Upon making the booking, we forgot to add on an extra night and then when we tried adding it on, it placed the booking for the wrong night, we just wanted to move the date to our last night of staying there. When we went down to reception we were told we have to deal with that and sort it out via the third party and there was nothing hotel staff could do about this, then third party wasn’t helpful at all so came back to reception and I believe Johnny was the night manager on and he was super helpful and it was no trouble to move the booking to the requested night and extend the booking, he was very professional, helpful and polite. During this interaction, we were told that we could just pay the difference to move the booking upon checkout which was totally fine as this was happening very late around 11ish PM so it was no dramas. Next day; we booked the buffet breakfast with our booking and it was awful, the eggs were like watery jelly and the only fruit left were oranges, the hash browns were soggy and the bacon was burnt so bad it was crummy to eat, we came down with a little over an hour to go for breakfast so we thought there still would be enough there but apparently not. The aircon in our room was AWFUL and did not work, we were boiling each night and just kept thinking it would work and get better and it didn’t, super noisy, full of dust and just did not work even when put on the coldest setting. We left our room key in the power activating slot to keep the air on running throughout the day when we were out, so we didn’t come back to a heat wave in our room, only to find out that the house keeper had taken our key and our room was back to being super hot again. We paid for the room, we should have been allowed to leave the air on running for when we returned for one day. Then we came back the following day after spending it with family, only to find our room key wasn’t working anymore on our last night of accommodation?? We went down and spoke to Liam who was incredibly rude, arrogant and wouldn’t even look at us when speaking to us. He was extremely dismissive. We were told our room key wasn’t working as we hadn’t paid for that last night, yet Johnny said the day before that it was perfectly fine for us to pay the difference upon checkout, Liam refused and kept making patronising comments such as “well what difference does it make if you pay now?” The difference is we didn’t know we would be locked out of our room after being told paying the difference was okay on checkout. My partner pulled out his card to pay and was waiting to tap as we couldn’t be bothered to deal with the back and forth, and Liam just took it off his card in the system, so why not just charge it instead of going through the trouble of locking us out or at least giving us a call to let us know we needed to pay?? Even tho we were told we didn’t need to until checkout?? The room was filthy, the walls had old liquid and marks all over them like they had not been cleaned in a very long time, there were streaks of coffee or some liquid down the front of the bathroom cupboards when we arrived, all the lamps were pulled out of their power points when we arrived which was super annoying to have to plug them in upon arriving at 11ish-11:30pm to use them, I would not recommend this stay to anyone and we could not wait to leave, no water bottles in the room, apparently tap water is good enough for how much they charge every night and the fridge wasn’t even working. The absolute worst hotel we have ever stayed at, never again. Don’t waste your time or money.
I was at a wedding last night and the manager of the hotel, Mitchell, provided the most amazing service that I had to leave a review, a rare thing for me. I could see he was run off his feet, however after meeting Mitchell, whenever I would make eye contact with him, he was straight up to me to assist. Unfortunately I had to be a little difficult throughout the night with some outlandish requests. Every request was met with a smile and he would go above and beyond to assist me and my group along with his team. He has left a lasting impression on me, and next time I am in Sydney, I’ll be making sure to stay with Rydges just to have a conversation with Mitchell again. Thank you Mitchell for all your hard work, and I hope there is no hard feelings with everything I asked!
Room was ok. Aircond was bit loud. 😅 Less variety of breakfast. Salmon for dinner was great! Reasonable price though.
Great location, Friendly staff, great rooms and comfortable beds!! Enjoy returning to this place, the bar has a good vibe.
We just went for their high tea. It was really nice and we were surprised when they brought out a selection of warm pieces too. Nice bonus. Staff were friendly and attentive.
