I had an extremely disappointing experience during my stay at this hotel. I checked in on 21/2/2025 around 3:40 PM and was met with unfriendly staff who didn’t provide clear directions to my room. Upon entering the Forest Suite, I was immediately hit with an overpowering smell of vomit and old, mouldy carpet. The room was far from what I expected from a five-star establishment. I politely requested a downgrade to a smaller room with the price that i already paid, explaining that the smell was unbearable for me and my friend, but the staff informed me that the hotel was fully booked and offered no alternative solutions. They said a cleaner would come with air freshener, but after waiting for half an hour, no one showed up. Given the poor condition of the room and lack of service, we had no choice but to check out just 40 minutes after arrival. The offer that we recieved when we checked-out is the dinner voucher which we politely declined, and we never asked for money refunded. This experience was a far cry from the standard of service I expected, and frankly, it was disappointing to encounter such neglect at a supposedly high-end hotel. If the management is serious about maintaining their reputation and ensuring customer satisfaction, they need to invest in proper room maintenance and staff training. I ended up staying at another hotel with excellent service, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. It’s a shame to have such a poor experience, especially when I had high hopes for my stay.
Sadly this once beautiful Manor is very run down, in desperate need of some love, mouldy smell throughout bedroom and hallways. Very sad to see. Dampness leaching through the walls from the leaking bathrooms. However the surrounding gardens and property is beautiful. I just hope the next people that have purchased it make the changes and bring it back to its former glory. Just wish we had been told it will be going under renovations soon before we booked and we would have held off for another time. Breakfast was great as was dinner.
My mum, grandma and I stayed here for my grandmas birthday weekend and we had so much fun. The gardens are insanely beautiful and the overall design of the whole hotel is stunning. The service was seriously 10/10 especially from lovely Leanne 🫶🏼 who is so welcoming and warm, such an angel. Wish the best for this place and can’t wait to come back after the renos.
The rooms are a nice size. However for $400 a night; I think you will be best placed to save your money and go elsewhere in the region. The place is more run down rather than antique and/or vintage. Its clear they have done or do no renovations or alterations to the walls, carpet or decor. It smells. The hallway is littered with old or dirty furniture. The furniture in our room had brown dirty patches when its supposed to be white. You could easily run a steam clean over that couch. The bedhead was dusty, the carpet was damp and smelly. The balcony furniture was dirty with stains on it. It just appears as there is no attention to detail, just a shell of what was once a beautiful cottage. It is advertised as a hotel with history and decorum. They have the history part down pat. You can tell as the hallway walls are falling apart. To top it, the food was overpriced, with 2 small strips of beef costing $48 and half a palm-size snapper fillet was $46. We contemplated getting some take away food after. The only saving grace is that the food tasted delicious, the TV was functioning and the staff were nice enough.
So much potential, unfortunately falling apart. Booked a weekend away and unfortunately didn’t even stay a night. Mould smell, ripped carpet and rundown foyer and common areas. Amazing grounds however tennis court was closed for ‘renovations’. I would avoid until the hotel is brought back to life as it is not as advertised in the images. Called the staff to discuss any options they may offer and the only response was that it was a heritage building.
