Got the $59 lunch set menu which was one of the best meals I've had in recent times. We got the wagyu arancini balls, burrata, squid ink pasta, wagyu steak, tiramisu, panna cotta and side of roast potatoes. All dishes were excellent except for the roast potatoes - not crunchy enough and couldn't smell much truffle. Definitely recommend the lunch set which is offered only on Fridays and Saturdays.
We had a good dining experience at Olio. The food was delicious and the Italian wines recommended by our waiter were very nice. The serve was on the generous side so ask if unsure. The beef was beautifully done. The atmosphere was cosy for a dinner setting. The old industrial block blends in with modern decorations quite seamlessly.
We had the $59 Lunch menu, which I found to be an excellent value for money. The quality and variety of dishes offered at this price were outstanding. The atmosphere of the restaurant was enhanced by the beautiful sunlight streaming through the large windows, creating a bright and warm dining environment. What stood out the most was our server, Marcello Fiorentini. His kindness and cheerful demeanor made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
We got the $108/pp Truffle Set Menu - the food was pretty average. Not much of that wow factor going on especially for the price. Waited a while to even be seated even though we had a reservation. Waiter came by after 2 minutes of us being seated, but then didn't bother looking over to see if we were ready to order for some time and I had to flag someone down. No smiles, not very welcoming. The chairs were quite uncomfortable, the service in general was also a letdown. I felt like I was bothering them whenever I asked for something. The food also took a while to come out, and it took about 20 minutes for us to receive our cocktails - the food had already arrived prior. Definitely not worth the hype, would not come back here.
Great food, great service. What more do you need? I had an exceptional time at Olio and they even accommodated special requests. I ordered the Arancini , Waygu and Tonnarelli. The Arancini was amazing. It was beautifully cooked with a good sauce to accompany the saffron rice arancini. The sauce balanced out the distinct flavours without overpowering the palette creating the perfect starter that was bold yet felt homely. The Wagyu steak was cooked to the correct temperature and packed a punch. Off the bat you could tell it was well seasoned and had a great crust full of deep flavour. The mushrooms provided a good bed for the juices to be absorbed. The sauce for the Waygu was a good touch as it bound all of the distinct flavours together while not overpowering the Wagyu. It was a good touch without distracting from the main elements of the dish. Finally the squid ink Tonnarelli was a reasonable choice. The Tonnarelli was cooked in a unique sauce that was somewhat spiced. You could feel some Scoville units on your lips after each bite. It wasn't overpowering and provided a good balance for the distinct flavours of the dish. The presentation of the pasta was incredible. The server was great and they were attentive and professional. No complaints from me. Overall, exceptional dishes that are blended with a distinct style of quality
