Nice hotel on the water. Comfortable rooms with balcony overlooking the water and pool. Nice breakfast with great barista coffee available. Only gripe is the $15 a night parking fee. Think it should be free for people staying there.
Great room and location is super convenient with most of what you could need right across the road. Staff were great and called when we left a small stuffed toy behind which was really appreciated. Based on the river there are loads of pretty fish and water dragons to observe. Pool is great too with good seating. Tiny negative was air con didn’t respond to remote which meant it got super cold overnight but reception sorted for us first night but I didn’t want bother them every night. Definitely would stay here again.
Disappointing stay. The wifi didn’t work for most of the trip. We never got new toilet paper (for four people in our room!) or coffee sachets when they cleaned the room so had to go buy our own. Also, at breakfast, you had to pay extra for barista coffee. It cost extra to park ($15/day) when there were no other options around anywhere else to park. The room wasn’t very clean - the carpets had many stains and the couches smelled. There was a smoker by the pool a couple of evenings and the staff didn’t ask them to stop.
Unfortunately this stay didn’t live up to our expectations from the pictures and cost for the stay. First room we were in the air conditioning didn’t work it was facing west so really hot, the duty manager at reception was lovely and moved us to a different room. Unfortunately second room wasn’t much better but didn’t want to seem difficult so didn’t say anything. The king bed was well used with large body dips in the mattress making it very uncomfortable and causing a very sore back over the 4 nights we stayed. The bathroom had no window and exhaust fan was broken causing black mould on the ceiling and in the grout. A hole that looked like it had been punched in the door had been badly patched, the handle barely worked to open and close the door. There were stains in the carpet in the room that looked ‘interesting’. And on door frame into the room red stains like blood. Overall stay was average it’s definitely not worth the price tag. The pool area looked tired with some of the plastic seating broken but not removed etc.
I stayed at Sails Port Macquarie while passing through for work and had a fantastic experience. The location is excellent, the amenities are top-notch, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Parking was a little tight, but I was able to find a spot without too much trouble. The in-house restaurant offers a decent selection, making dining convenient during my stay. Overall, I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in town.
