We recently stayed in a Luxury room for 2 nights, at nearly $1,000/night. The view was great and all the staff were really nice. The room however, was not worth the money. It was small, the kettle and coffee machine were in the bathroom. There was not even a biscuit provided which you would normally find in much cheaper hotels! Definitely would not stay here again. Would rather have a little less view with a better room.
The hotel was beautifully designed. The rooms provided an amazing city like view. The pool deck over the Darling Harbor and the city line was stunning. I would highly recommend future visitors to Sydney to consider this hotel. And the theme with the pastries and the breakfast was kind of cool. And being literally five seconds from the SA convention center was pretty awesome.
The location is superb as the hotel is next to a light rail station and close to restaurants. If you are for events hosting in ICC, the location is nowhere to be beaten. However in terms of service, some of the staff aren’t up to the standard of a 4-5 stars hotel. I spent 5 nights in this hotel, 4 of them were from a group booking and the last night was paid by my own and was in the almost most expensive room for the celebration of my birthday. I spent 5 nights there, but there was no one telling me the check out time. Normally hotels have a check out time of 12:00, I’m aware of it. So on the last day, I called to reception for a later check out at 10:30 as I was having an evening flight of 20:00. I was expecting perhaps an hour buffer so that I can check out at 13:00. The staff answered my call after my 2 attempts, and said they were fully booked that not possible for any late checkout even I told him the reasons. I was really disappointed that 1 - I am a gold member of this hotel group, that I have been choosing their hotels wherever I travel. So I am expecting some flexibilities. 2 - I wasn’t told the check out time, so I wasn’t expecting I need to leave the hotel at 11:00am on a Sunday morning. 3 - my wife was not feeling very well, that she needed more rest. So in this price, this hotel is not worth at all.
We are currently on a six-night stay at the Sofitel Darling Harbour and wanted to share some feedback. Unfortunately, we weren’t aware of the construction happening right in front of the hotel until we arrived, as it wasn’t mentioned during our booking process; I only discovered it in the FAQs afterward. Currently, we were assigned a room with a large crane right outside our window. We requested a move to a higher floor, hoping that it would minimize the crane's visibility. Thankfully, our request was accommodated. Our first night was lovely since it was the weekend. However, with the construction noise now starting up, it has disrupted our son's sleep quite a bit. We had booked a Darling Harbour view, but unfortunately, that view is currently obstructed by a huge moving crane. We’ve made another request to be moved higher to help minimize the noise, and we understand this is subject to availability. While we completely respect hotel policies and recognize that the construction is out of their control, we hope for some empathy regarding the situation and find a workaround especially since we are here for six days with a toddler and had planned to stay in the hotel to relax, rather than saying they don’t have an available room or we have to top-up as the available room is not the same room type that we booked. We feel a bit disappointed, especially for a 5-star hotel given the rate of the room.
It was a wonderful girls trip with my two young daughters. Philip welcomed us warmly and gifted my girls two joey's, that was such a special way to start our time there. Although the pool was cold, it was fun with a great view. The breakfast was lovely, especially with all the variety for us all! The staff were very friendly and the room was comfortable with a great view.
