I’ve been staying at Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise for the past five years, and it’s always been my go-to accommodation on the Gold Coast. Unfortunately, this recent visit was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had, and it’s incredibly disheartening to see how much the service has deteriorated. Let’s start with the front desk—they are completely unresponsive. Calling them from the room is practically useless, as no one answers or returns calls. It gives the impression that guest support is no longer a priority. The cleaning services were a complete disaster. I stayed several days and only received one basic clean, and that too was done poorly. When I reached out to the housekeeping team to request cleaning at a suitable time (especially since I’m traveling with a baby), I was told that between 10 AM and 1 PM, they only clean checkout rooms and won’t attend to in-house guests until after 1 PM. This timing is extremely inconvenient for anyone with a family or small children. When I escalated the issue to the manager, rather than taking the matter seriously, she simply told me to call back again the next morning to remind them—which is completely unacceptable. A proper hotel should be proactive, not place the burden of follow-up on paying guests. It’s very clear that there is a huge shortage in cleaning staff and a serious lack of professionalism. For a property that markets itself as luxury, this level of service is just not acceptable. Other issues included: • Unbelievably slow lifts, often taking several minutes to arrive. • No concierge presence—there was no one to help with bags during check-in or check-out. • No in-room safety box, which is a basic amenity I would expect from even a 3-star hotel, let alone Peppers Soul. • Unfriendly and disengaged staff overall—there was no warmth or welcoming energy during the entire stay. What was once a 5-star experience now feels more like a bare-minimum serviced apartment. Reading recent reviews, I see that I’m not alone—others have faced the same problems and the management response always seems to be “We’ll look into it.” Clearly, nothing has changed. As someone who used to love and recommend this hotel, it’s incredibly disappointing to say that I will not be returning. I hope the management takes these repeated concerns seriously and works on restoring the quality that Peppers Soul was once known for.
Our stay at Peppers Place was incredible. The view from our room was absolutely breathtaking, overlooking the beach and the winding road below—it felt like a dream. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and really well designed for comfort. The service was outstanding too, with staff who were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. Everything about the experience felt relaxing and high quality. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with stunning views.
Amazing as always! This is our annual holiday destination for several reasons. The facilities are amazing. Heated pools, great gym, the sauna and steam room are always clean. Great location with cafes, restaurants and activities for the kids and family. The 3 bedroom apartments have plenty of room especially for our family of 6, and exceptional views. The staff are lovely and helpful. Love this place.
View great. Location great. Rooms beautiful. Spas not working. Pools and spas too cold. Spa area very noisy parents with kids. Kids screaming the whole time. No signs to keep quiet and respect others. Hotel restaurant at night dinner had loud blaring rock music. Food great though. Breakfast great food, not noisy like dinner.
We stayed here with extended family for a winter getaway. The location was perfect a short walk to restaurants and kids activities as well as directly across from the beach. The hotel amenities were perfect for a winter getaway with indoor and outdoor pools and spas as well as a sauna. The apartment was clean and beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had all that was needed and an added benefit of Foxtel. We had a great stay and plan on making it an annual trip.
