Review for Higher Ground Cafe The half-hour wait to get in was worth it for the experience. While the menu options are limited, the dishes are unique and creatively presented, showcasing a thoughtful approach to food. The coffee was decent. The cafe’s heritage rustic style building adds a lot of charm, which I personally loved. However, the loud music detracts from the ambiance, making it less ideal for a relaxed catch-up. Overall, a good spot for a special outing if you’re willing to wait, but perhaps not for quiet conversations. And make sure you book in advance!
Higher Ground is a beautifully designed, aesthetic café that makes a great first impression. The ambiance is trendy and inviting, with a lot of attention to detail in the interior. The food presentation is excellent – everything looks picture-perfect and well thought out. However, while the dishes look amazing, the taste was just average in my opinion. As a vegetarian, I found there were only a few options on the menu, and they didn’t really wow me. That said, the service was fantastic. The staff were attentive, friendly, and really added to the experience. Overall, it's a lovely place to visit for the vibe and presentation, but the food, especially for vegetarians, could be a bit more exciting.
Book in advance! This place was crazy busy at 8:30 on a Monday morning! The staff worked hard to get us a place but everything felt a little busy, not helped by people looking for seating in a particular area. Great building and an excellent location near southern cross station which I suspect is why it is so busy. Coffee was decent and the food was also solid with the prices being quite reasonable considering location.
Great place! It has its own rustic style that I love, high ceiling I just love it! Highly recommend to book in advance as it is very popular! The food is generous and the coffee is good! They have an open kitchen so that's cool! kids friendly! Wheelchair friendly and great atmosphere for a date or a catch up!
I love the ambience, and the food is nice, but the menu options are limited. While they claim the meat is halal, they also serve ham and pork, which is confusing. A medium coffee costs $7, which is outrageously expensive! Our total for breakfast, which included two meals and two drinks plus a 10% service charge, came to over $80. The service was good, though not particularly friendly, just standard. We had to wait in line for more than 30 minutes. This was on a weekend. Overall, while the experience was pleasant, I still prefer other places that offer good food, good service, and reasonable prices. This spot is more for impressing guests or if you’re willing to splurge. Personally, I don’t think I’ll return for breakfast, I’ll explore other options.
