Hopscotch Melbourne is a downbeat gathering place with a beer for every occasion. The riverside terrace plays host to social gatherings, soaking up the city atmosphere. You might have guessed it, Hopscotch loves the tall dark and handsome type. Hopscotch Melbourne is Urban Beer Bar more like your dream backyard. With 30 flavours of beer on tap, the craftiest of them will soon feature as a boutique batch from the custom microbrewery, scheduled to arrive on site early in the new year. An exclusive brew will change every month and is personally prepared by local Victorian makers. Explore the fridge menu for more local and international drops to sip by the river. You won’t be asking for "the usual" at Hopscotch. If cocktails are more your thing, you can’t go past one of the DIY Kocktail Kits, tap cocktails or spiked slushies - frozé anyone? Or ask the bartender to conjure up something with a bite. The signatures will have you doing a little shoulder shimmy - you know the one. Ever been told not to play with your food? Not at Hopscotch! The chef’s menu is all about a quick, quality hand full of fun, so you can balance your drink on the other hand. Visit the nitro ice cream bar for a dope flavour fix, think ballin’ beer-inspired ice cream cups. Oh, and the chef’s weekend breakfast menu is, like, wow.

Amazing experience Firstly big shoutout to Emily at the front counter, she was an amazing host with the happiest attitude and best management on this full house Saturday evening. The location was epic, good views of the city and surrounding buildings and the water. Had indoor and outdoor seating available with the game on big screen. Food was amazing even though i felt the options were a bit limited in the 2-handed section but overall had a good selection through all the courses. The bar had a very welcoming look, lots of things to choose from, tap beer, spirits, whiskey, wines and so on. Chicken Sanga burger was amazing. It had the best seasonings and a well balanced selection of flavours. Crispy and well seasoned chips with the dips were a good side dish. Pricing was reasonable for the experience you get. Highly recommend!!
A spacious place with plenty of styles, heights and combinations of seating arrangements. The burger I had was on the salty side. The menu suggested it was a two handed dish as opposed to other dishes if classified as one handed dishes. There is outdoor and indoor seating. There is a river view for the outdoor seats at the front.
I'm a little biased towards the pubs in that strip just because it's at my favourite spot overlooking the Yarra River. However, what made my experience more special was that they offered me a free item off the menu since it was my birthday! I had their steak sandwich, which was very filling. I do wish the bread was toasted instead of fresh. I really liked their long island iced tea, but I was surprised to see the pina colada in such a short glass! It also had an after-taste, which isn't for my pallete, I'd say. My mate ordered a beef burger which was very juicy and yummy. Quite a busy place so I'll recommend to surely book ahead. Nice and friendly staff and it's about 8mins walk from Flinders station.
Hmmm ... another pricey and underwhelming lunch at Southbank. I ordered their Chipotle Pork Tacos and a side of Onion Rings with Jalapeno Mayo. Add in a large Pepsi and the bill was over $40. The onion rings were perfect, but the mayo had no heat (you would expect some heat with jalapenos and Mexican food). The tacos were rather silly - the tortillas are closed (folded over) and covered with a dollop of sour cream and salsa (pico de gallo) with a bowl of dipping juice on the side. Right. How are you supposed to eat it? Tried using a knife and fork, but the tortilla is too rubbery and the pork too dry (hence the dipping juice) so the paper beneath it was soon a shredded mess. I had no choice but to pick it up, covered in sour cream and salsa. Would be a no-brainer to serve the tacos open on a slightly larger plate so you can envelope the sour cream and salsa when you pick it up and fold it, then dip it in the juice. Of course, if you're visiting after work with mates and have had a few beers, then you wouldn't care about any of the above. But when you're at lunch and going back to the office after, the last thing you want is a mess.
This place is great to enjoy some food and live music. The only thing is you can’t stay long as it gets way too hot in the sun, it’s needs some shade so you can still enjoy the view without getting burnt. It would be good if they could close the shades a bit so people aren’t drinking in the sun and getting burnt. Otherwise great place. and everyone we go Emily is a delight, she’s such a great host with amazing energy.
