First time there and yet pleasantly surprised with this General steak burger! beef is tender, bread is soft, fries are cripsy and, nicely seasoned! Really a very nice lunch! Highly recommended!
Large bustling pub located on the banks of the Yarra in the South Bank area, next to the convention centre and DFO Outlet centre. Offering indoor and outdoor seating, with heaters during the colder months. Easy to get to from Melbourne’s CBD across one of the many bridges over the river. Alternately if you’re tired after walking around the outlet mall with your wife / girlfriend this is a super-convenient spot for a refreshment or two while you wait.
Great place for a drink but wouldn’t ever eat here again. A 20 minute wait for food turned into an hour on a lunch service. Food bad quality even when paying for extras (bacon/cheese). Bread on the stale side, lumps of burger cheese on a steak sanga after forgetting cheese first time round. Bar Staff where helpful in the forgetting of the cheese. This is bottom end quality of food and would not return. Feel sorry for the bar staff having to deal with the issues as can clearly see other complaining.
Solid pub food at typical pub prices. Got the chicken schnitzel and it was quite scrumptious with a salad to nicely balance it out. The mushroom sauce was great. They sometimes have live music and I thought it was piercingly loud when I had to switch seats to move away from it hurting my ears. Expect to spend ~$30-35 for a meal here. They have weekend surcharge.
4.5/5. Delicious juicy schnitzel with a side of pepper and mushroom gravy. Chips are crispy. Portion size is good. Loads of seating inside and out. The indoor terrace spots are lovely to sit and watch life on the Yarra. On the more pricey side - $40 for a schnitzel with gravy and a large coke. But delicious.
