Such an awesome pub/restaurant that’s located right on the Yarra river and next to the bridge on the South wharf!! They offer a great and huge selection of drinks! And the food is amazing as well!!! I had the Friday special which was the calamari burger and wow it did not disappoint!! Calamari was cooked to perfection it wasn’t chewy like some places have them it was just perfect with the amount of sauce which was so good. My client enjoyed his schnitzel with the gravy! All staff are attentive, friendly and lovely. But a special shoutout to both Luke who served me on the bar and Rucha who served on the floor. They were both so bubbly, pleasant and friendly delivering such professional customer service!!

It’s a great venue, fantastic location, river views and a very handy meeting place if you are going to Jeff’s Shed. Good range of tap beer and they often have live acoustic music out the front. The only let down and sadly it the same for all these venues along the waterfront is the food. Most are managed by the same group, all the food is the same standard. Doable, but not great.

Fantastic setting on the Yarra River. Spacious revamped industrial style interior. Good food quality; although the mac n cheese appetizers ate a bit bland (maybe a sharper cheddar would help?), the vegetarian linguine bolognese was delicious and the portion was beyond what I could consume. The nonalcoholic Shiraz wasn’t great, but I’ve yet to find a nonalcoholic wine that isn’t straight-away awful, so no restaurant score deduction for that. Service was magnificent - attentive and genuinely friendly - many American servers would do well to come here for lessons.

I was in love with the steak sandwiches that I had for a farewell party last year in December. The steak was sooo yummy and the portion was good. So I was willing come back for another try . Kinda disappointed it didnt taste the same. They change the sandwich it’s less crunchy , the bread to steak ratio was off , I barely taste the meat . The atmosphere is fantastic near the river , staff were friendly. Here are the comparison of the photo of last year and today.

This is a riverside pub situated along the Yarra River at South Wharf. They have a large indoor seating area and quite a few outdoor tables with excellent river views. Opening hours are 11.30am to 9 or 10pm daily. The General Assembly has a nice menu of bar foods along with beer, wine and cocktails. Order at the bar and food and drinks will be brought out to your table. We enjoyed an order of calamari, whisky sour and glass or Pinot Noir. Service was friendly and timely, prices just fine for the venue location. This is a nice riverside pub and place we'd gladly stop by again for a round of drinks and light bite to eat.
