80 North St, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia
Brewery
•Established in 1997.
Mountain Goat started out as Dave's weekend homebrew project in a suburban Melbourne backyard. A postcard turned up from his mate Cam who was backpacking in Canada and had just discovered craft beer. They decided Melbourne needed craft beer too (back in 1997, there was really only fizzy lagers to be found). So Cam and Dave had a great idea but no money to build a brewery. They were knocked back from every bank they approached but luckily, with a little help from friends and family, they prevailed and Mountain Goat was soon tapped at a few local pubs. Nineteen years later, Mountain Goat is now found nationally and in a few international markets. Mountain Goat was acquired by Asahi Premium Beverages in October 2015 but it stayed business as usual, with the brewery and bar still operating in the back streets of Richmond. From Steam Ale, one of Australia's first organic beers, to the more complex limited releases and barrel aged beers, there is a Mountain Goat beer for everyone.

Great venue for a beer and a pizza. Excellent pope space with happy hours and food specials scattered throughout the week. Gotta love the service from Ben and Andreas, always providing the goods. Live music on Fridays with top tier pizza the ultimate end to a week.
We were drawn in due to the industrial look of the place (and also because one person in my party was a fan of this brand of alcohol!). While sipping on your beers with pals, you can behold the distilleries and breweries in the back bit of the warehouse. I’m still navigating my way through the world of ales and alcs, but I found the cider to be refreshing.
Dropped in for dinner and it turned out to be 'locals night' - $10 pizza and $10 beer, a crazy deal! The pizza was honestly one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time and the beer was also delicious. Great deal for a Wednesday night. I also tried the gin and tonic and it had a refreshing taste.
I honestly love coming here on a Friday night after work to listen to live music! The staff are so calm and relaxed even when they are under pressure. I actually come here for their north street pale! Wish it was canned as everyone of our work team gets it. We have had work functions here and nothing is too much. Can see why it already has a good rating. Got to have the pizza!
Such a sick place. Super cool atmosphere, food was great - gochujang wings with truffle ranch were a highlight. Absolutely loved the Steam Ale, really refreshing and drinkable. We were served by Mars - so lovely and attentive! Will be going back if we ever visit Melbourne again.
