A Hidden Gem in Canberra – Red Shed I recently had the absolute pleasure of attending a function at Red Shed in Canberra, and I was completely blown away. This place is truly one of Canberra’s best-kept secrets — a charming hidden gem with a stunning atmosphere and view that instantly makes you feel welcome, relaxed, and inspired. From the moment I arrived, I knew it was somewhere special. I honestly can’t wait to host my own event here one day. The space is stylish yet cosy, beautifully tucked away, and perfect for any occasion. Now, a special shoutout must go to Matt, who made the best lemon lime and bitters I’ve ever had — and trust me, I’ve had a few! It’s a simple drink, but getting that perfect ratio of zingy lime to sweet and bitter is a rare art, and he absolutely nailed it. The team at Red Shed were next-level lovely. Zoe, Alice, Camilla, and Dominic — what a dream team! They are genuinely warm, thoughtful, and perfectly suited to hospitality. Their energy, smiles, and attention to detail made me feel so well looked after and added a really personal touch to the whole experience. And to Polly, the manager — thank you for creating such a welcoming and memorable space. You’ve built something really special with a team that clearly loves what they do. I left Red Shed feeling like I’d stumbled across something truly special. I’m already planning to bring my family and friends to showcase this beautiful place — and I know they’ll love it just as much as I do. Highly, highly recommend. 💫

We ordered coffees as soon as we arrived, but they didn’t show up until after our meals were served—despite the restaurant being only a quarter full. When we asked about the delay, there was no apology - just a curt and short “they’re on their way.” When the coffees finally arrived, they were undrinkable. The flavor was burnt, the foam overly airy, and worst of all, they were cold. We also ordered the pistachio croissant, which for $8 tasted like a store-bought Coles croissant with a spoonful of pistachio spread and a few stale nuts sprinkled on top. It, too, was served after the coffee - even though it required zero prep. Again, no apology, no acknowledgment. That said, the frika egg was genuinely delicious, and the smashed avo dish was well done. The setting is lovely, with a beautiful view of the lake. It’s just a shame the service couldn’t match the quality of the food or the location.

I never give not a 5 star to support local businesses. But this event was killed by the venue to support Women day. IF you have more than 100 women celebrating women's day, why would you only 1/4 of staff needed? While most food should have been enjoyed together, we had them 30min apart. Yes I attended as a guest, but I would never support this SERVICE again.

I called at 115 today to book a table but was glad to hear no booking necessary. However, we arrived at 158 to be told they were closing at 2. We're very disappointed that the lady on the phone didn't alert us to this fact. Not sure if we'll bother coming back. There was 4 of us including a 94 year old who doesn't find climbing in and out of the car easy.

The food and view are lovely. I didn't appreciate the attitude of the staff who worked hard to rush me out even though I arrived within hours. It felt like it was an imposition to order food 35 minutes before the kitchen closed. Management may need to address this.
