Had a great stay at The Great Southern Hotel. The location is perfect being so closed to the train station and a light rail stop. My mother had really bad vertigo after the plane ride. The team were able to shuffle things around to enable us to check in early which was appreciated. When she required a doctor to come to the hotel, the staff gave a great and affordable recommendation. Only minor grumble was that the air conditioning's minimum setting is not as low as I would have wanted. Would have liked for that to go lower than 21 degrees. Overall, a really great stay.

2 minutes walk from Central Station and 30 seconds to the tram that runs down to Circular Quay it's the ideal location. China town is at its doorstep as well as the Capital theatre. Great selection of food options but the hotel itself offers amazing specials and it's priced at reasonable for good pub food. We opted for the full breakfast and it was amazing. Really lovely servers too. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked again when we are next in Sydney before we take our cruise in December.

Great location, tram on your doorstop as is Central train station. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Woke up at 2.30 am a bit cold, called for an extra blanket and they delivered! Bed was comfy, good size bathroom, needs some more hooks to hang a towel off. Loved the old feel of the hotel. Bar downstairs that serves good sized meals. Join up and get 10% off the cost. Overall great place to stay if your doing stuff in the city. Only thing missing is a microwave!

While I have no problem with the hotel, and we have stayed there on three different occasions we were booking four rooms for three nights and were told by reception staff that we could book online and gave us a web address. What they failed to say was this site took payment in American dollars. The booking that was done by phone, cost $680 whilst the booking done (in good faith, and as recommended by staff) cost well over $800. This makes us think twice before we would book this hotel again.

A great hotel five minutes walk to Central Station and light rail opposite is all I need when in Sydney overnight. Very quiet rooms and comfortable bed, shower was good too. Staff at reception were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay again next time I am in Sydney.
