Reviews for Holiday Inn Express Newcastle

Holiday Inn Express is becoming my 'new rising star' when it comes to domestic and international accommodation preferences. The Newcastle iteration is fresh, funky, friendly and a really nice place to base yourself when staying in Newcastle for work or 'not work'. Nicely appointed rooms that are clean and cozy - and the inclusive breakfast is a really nice value-add. Staff are really friendly, and give the impression they really want the best for you. Parking upstairs is worth the extra cost for those travelling by car.

Enjoyed our brief stay. Room was clean and tidy. Only complaint was no top sheet, only a doona, not great for me that gets to hot or hubby that is usually cold. Otherwise everything else was great. Breaky the next morning was very nice. All staff we encountered were lovely & friendly.

I have stayed here a few times over past few years. It’s basic and clean and bed comfortable. The breakfast they now offer is sub par to say the least. Never had a hotel breakfast with NO eggs before. Fruit is minimal, orange and watermelon, and cut up badly. Coffee out of a machine that isn’t even labelled, could have been tea or coffee but whatever it was, it was appalling. Two bus loads of overseas tourists completely over-ran the small breakfast area. The room itself is ok pretty generic however no wine glasses in the room and could do with an extra blanket in the cupboard. One attribute it has is closeness to the light rail, very handy also you can park securely upstairs from reception and the young ones on the desk are very nice, they do their best! Can’t criticise them at all. I’d surmise IHG must be cost cutting re the subpar breakfast.

Rooms are clean and up to date. Presentation is good. They are small but competitively priced. Showers have good water pressure which is outlier these days with many places restricting to a dribble. Downside and the reason for four stars is the parking arrangement. Having to download an app to pay for parking is inconvenient and a poor way of managing that aspect of customer service in my view. Arriving late, having to try and set the app up etc was a pain. It works be much better of it was managed by the reception like the majority of places.

What a great experience for a quick getaway to Newcastle. From the minute we checked in, to checking out, the staff were truly amazing and so friendly. Huge shout out to Linda for making the best coffee and hot chocolate and for her knowledge of local caravanning business, helping us out. We can’t thank you enough as you have helped us find our new caravan. Definitely will be staying here again on our next visit to Newcastle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
