Reviews for Parkroyal Darling Harbour Sydney

My wife and I stayed 8-nights for touring around Sydney, and for her running the Marathon on the final day. Our room was perfect and housecleaning was attentive and thorough. Location was convenient for all public transportation, and there also all we wanted (food, shopping) within walking distance. The buffet breakfasts at Park Royal Darling Harbour were exceptional variety-wise and for freshness. Coffee was excellent. We especially enjoyed the friendliness and attentiveness of our breakfast host, Johnny. We will be back

We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were good with included a nice bath and shower. The towels were changed every day and fresh water was accessible from the water fountain. Good location into Sydney. Only minor criticism is that they request a holding deposit of just over 200 dollars and it took a while for this to be realised after check out.

Do not stay here! I’ll start with the good – it was clean and just a short walk to Darling Harbour. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. This is barely 3-star, let alone 4-star accommodation. I booked a Club Room with the promise of a premium experience including Darling Harbour views, a well-appointed room, buffet breakfast, and twilight drinks and canapes in the Club Lounge. Instead, I got a view of a busy highway, a very unimpressive room missing everything that you'd expect of a club room in a 4-star hotel. There was no minibar - just an empty fridge. Not even bottled water (instead, you carry a jug down the hall to a communal filter). I completely get the sustainability sentiment. But why wouldn't you have a filter in each room! The shower itself had a fixed waist-high head, which was inconvenient and uncomfortable and you had to call room service every time you wanted a single-use tube of even the most basic of amenities such as conditioner. In addition, when I attempted to access the Club Lounge I was declined entry and sent to reception where I was told that lounge access required an additional $113, even though it was listed as an inclusion of my booking! Breakfast was disappointing and basic – cornflakes, cold curdled scrambled eggs, and coffee orders that never arrived. And when I tried to order from their late room-service menu, the only option available was a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich. For the price and the promises made, this hotel was a complete let-down. I will not be returning.

We had such a fantastic stay at this hotel. The location is amazing and getting into darling harbour is so easy. The staff are so accommodating and friendly. We had a mobility scooter and the staff were able to cloak it for us and allow us to get it out whenever we needed to go out and about. Nothing was an issue for them. The room was awesome, view of darling harbour that the new drone light show was able to be seen from. The buffet breakfast is great and after a massive day we got room service for dinner and everyone enjoyed their meals, so many options. I don’t normally write reviews but the staff were so kind and helpful that I just felt like I needed to.

The staff were lovely, but they also charged my credit card for the stay, despite my workplace having already paid for it during the booking. I can easily forgive that, mistakes happen, but they never acknowledged the issue until I raised it with them. I was simply told "oh yes, we noticed that, and have reversed it. It will take about a week to refund the money." So they knew it had happened, but elected to make zero effort to contact me to let me know, hoping I simply wouldn't notice nearly $500 in charges to my card. Since I'm writing a review anyway, I will add two things about the room: 1. There were no blankets supplied, and only a thin cover for the bed. This meant I had to turn up the heating to stay warm, which was noisy all night and left the air dry in the morning. 2. The kettle power lead was so short that it could not be plugged in without putting it on top of something, which isn't safe. The power points weren't even that far off the desktop, but the leads were insanely short.
