I recently attended the Smart Energy NT innovation seminar held at Club Tropical Darwin. Every aspect of my stay was extraordinary! Reception staff, restaurant staff and everyone who helped prepare the conference room for the event were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond! Thank you, Club Tropical resort Darwin! I will definitely be back!

Highly recommend this place. Clean and tidy. Rooms have the amenities you need. Restaurant has basic but good food menu. Prices are reasonable and quality of food is yummo and a good size. Staff are very pleasant and efficient. Thanks Club Tropical, may see you next visit. Cheers James Smith.

Noise The room I had was located in the first block of units as you drive through the entrance, therefore right next to the main road. With the room not very sound proof, you can hear traffic driving past at all hours, guests talking and carrying on, especially when they are sitting outside on the shared verandah. The opening and closing of neighbouring room doors, heavy footed people walking around in the room above, along with what sounded like moving of furniture. Privacy The room shares a patio with several other rooms. There are no dividers/partitions between each room on the patio so if you want to have the sliding door curtains open, then your room and bed are in full view of people walking past. Also, each room's outdoor setting's are lined, close to each other along the patio, so there is no privacy if you sit outside. Because I was a female staying on my own, for the whole time I was there, especially at night, I felt uneasy as I could hear a bunch of blokes talking and carrying on as though they were right outside my door. Bathrooms The water pressure in the shower is so poor, that it doesn't even come through all the holes on different settings of the shower rose. I also had a shower head holder that kept sagging, so the combination of the two was really annoying. In the bathroom, next to the basin, there was a hole in the wall with a water pipe clearly visible in it. From what I gatherd, that pipe is the drain belonging to the basin in the room upstairs as you can see and hear the water running through it each time upstairs turns their tap on. If you're a light sleeper like me, this tests the nerves as this can also be heard at times during the night. Facilities I stayed for three nights and put some cans of drinking the fridge along with some left overs I had for dinner the first evening and it wasn't until late afternoon of the second day that I realised the fridge wasn't working properly. I had a bag of ice in the freezer so I used that to keep things cold which only just did the job. For the time I had left and with all the stuff I had, it wasn't worth moving rooms. For rooms 'without' private laundry facilities, there is a communal laundry where you can do your washing, but it's at an additional cost. The washing machines are $5 per cycle and the dryers are $2 for 12 minutes. I didnt need detergent as I had my own, but that's also an extra. Given that it cost me more to stay here than at some of the nicer hotels in Darwin, I think it is really ordinary that they do not provide laundry facilities which are inclusive in their price, or at very least...offer complimentary powder. Reception was unattended when I needed to get a second key. I waited a minute or two and then called out hello, to no answer. For about 15 minutes, I walked around the foyer, to the restaurant, and back and forth to the desk looking for someone while still calling out hello. Finally when the staff member came out, I felt like I was being scalded when he told me he was on the phone. No 'sorry to keep you waiting' or better yet, pop your head out to let me know you were there. As a local born Darwin resident, the location of the place is on the outskirts of residential suburbs. It's close enough to shops and dining options if you have a car, but the drive is in on an out of the way, inconvient route. Its also worth noting, that it isn't with waking distance to said places. Summary. I chose this place because I needed to be close to the hospital....would I stay here again, and could I recommend it to others? Unfortunately, no.
